The room was nice with a comfy bed. The bathroom had stains on the floor and linen. The view was a shaft between buildings and echoed street noise. The neighborhood has gone down. Parking was inconvenient but they offer valet for $45 per day.

I liked the hotel and will stay again. I wouldn’t bring a family w kids, but for a budget friendly option within a close taxi to Moscone it works. It is quite dated, but all of the fixtures and accommodations are very clean and tidy. The bed was very, very comfortable and slept great aside from the city noise that you get outside. I felt like I was stepping back into the 1970s or 80s which I kind of enjoyed. The TV is low, resolution and old tech, but who cares? But like I said, everything was well-maintained and enjoyable overall.
Lovely hotel! Staff was very helpful, rooms were spacious and clean, and beds were very comfortable. Great location and centrally located for everything my family wanted to see.
Stayed here many times. Well-kept, clean old SF hotel, most classic features are intact: tile bathroom floors; solid wood doors, granite counters, great beds. Reasonably priced; at some times of the year, it's an absolute steal. Neighborhood is a little sketchy.
Homeless people everywhere, dog/human poop everywhere. Ambulance sirens ran several times at nights, people yelling outside, cars with loud music running by every now and then.

The lobby was nice but the room was very run down. Wall paper peeling off the walls in the bathroom, paint peeling off the ceiling in the bed area, old radiator heat with no instructions on how to or if you could control the temperature. Lots of street noise even from the 6th floor.
Not what I expect at this price point.
Room is classicaly and moody. But heating system is poor. You will stand very cold nights in winter. And you shoud watch ground carefully to walk SF street in the morining, as you see many dirty materials on road. Hotel service is very good but winter season.
Pretty hotel with nice comfortable rooms. Great staff! The wine served in the late afternoon not so good, but the selection of cheese, fruit, and crackers was really good, as well as the free breakfast with yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, and pastries.
I was in San Francisco for a conference in the Union Square area. The hotel was a short walk away so very convenient. The staff were very friendly and I was made to feel very welcome. I was staying on the second floor, which was actually downstairs and next to the street. My only regret is that people were talking outside until the early hours. Ask for a room on an upper floor.
Great centralized location. Clean and large rooms. Dated rooms but fits the historic building. Evening staff not the nicest and at times not very helpful or polite.⁸
The hotel is great, it is just the City of San Francisco needs to do something different. I arrived at the end of the APEC conference and the streets were cleaned up and civil. That changed so quickly after the conference ended.

Property seemed like it was top of the line decades back. But now smells of lingering cigarettes in a stale, unintentional time capsule.
The lady at the front desk made the check out very complicated.

Not kid friendly
Area not kid friendly, loud sirens and people all day and specially nights, no AC, fruit flies, windows will not say open, you must pay for parking separately.
The property is quaint and acceptable. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We were on a lower floor and the street noise was loud including everyone walking by the window. Earplugs helped. The wallpaper needs some repair. Valet parking was great! Had my car when I needed it. But, all in all, it was an acceptable place to stay and close to where we needed to be.
Well preserved and appointed hotel near Union square.

No A/C to control in the room, only a small and very noisy fan. Room way smaller than expected and a little different than the picture. Some of the staff members were nice, other not so much. The one who greeted us and helped checking in wasn’t very nice neither was the one who checked us out. Many homeless surrounded the area. Wouldn’t stay again or recommend… unless it was our only choice.
This property is quaint and old fashioned. But the room was clean and bed was comfortable. The wallpaper needs some repairing, but acceptable. Our room was on a lower floor and we can hear conversations on the street & the road noise is loud. (Maybe needs window updates). Good thing we brought earplugs. We like staying in the city and it’s close to where we needed to because , so this property was acceptable for its modest price.
