Although the property was under renovation, it was still an incredible experience staying there. The renovation activities weren’t bothersome at all. And the area was absolutely beautiful and perfect for relaxing walks to dinner, etc.

Wonderful stay with delicious breakfast out on the sunny terrace. Nice places to walk and swim. A lot of history with in the walls of this Hotel. Short walk across bridge to a little Island for dinner .

The property is located in very quiet and safe area. The view is beautiful! As everyone already knows, the building is under renovation and the room is pretty old. It smells like water in the ditch and changed the room.

Grand stay at Grand Hotel.

This is a rather grand place with a long history. Currently under major renovation to restore all it's former glory. Despite the ongoing construction it didn't effect the quality of my stay. The staff, restaurants and food was as excellent as one can desire. The hotel location is a tranquil spot in the harbour, with garden and pavilion restaurant facing the water. I'm very much looking forward to come back, especially when the restoration is done.

First visit to Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden. Location, facilities, room, staff and food was impeccable. We are frequent guests to both Ystad Saltsjöbad and Villa Strandvägen, both exquisite hotels. But after visiting Grand Hotel in Saltsjöbaden, we have a new favourite! Our 40 sq m LUX room had a stunning ocean view, and despite ongoing renovation of the hotel, we could not help falling in love with the views and atmosphere of this old and impressive building. Dinner in the Franska Matsalen was without exception prepared to perfection - portions ample and pricetags reasonable. Waiters friendly and knowledgeable. And as a bonus we enjoyed recognizing numerous locations and settings from the tv-series “Solsidan”. Only fly in the ointment was really that access to the pool was an additional 250 SEK/head. Otherwise everything top notch. Hope to make it back soon!!!

Very nice but undergoing renovation

Saltsjöbaden is a fantastic place to visit, beautiful scenery with touch of the archipelago. However, Grand Hotel is under major renovation which we immediately marked upon arrival. It would have been good to know in advance for setting expectations. We found it basically remarkable that so much was still undone at the beginning of the summer season. All respect for the need to renovate, but it was really too much. Particularly inside in the hallways. Hotel employees showed a great deal og understanding and we were actually upgraded to a very nice room (although the WiFi didn’t reach it). I know the hotel will be even more fabulous after the renovation. Looking forward to come again.

Not as Grans as expected

The hotel in grand but it is also in need of TLC. The paint is coming off at places, the carpet in the stairs are worn to shreds, the shower head in our room could not be fastened and someone had tried to jam it in place with toilet paper, door lining was loose and just 4 channels on the telly. But there are good thing with this stay as well. The staff is friendly and helpful and the view over the bay is magnificent. In some way I got the feeling of a sinking Titanic; the staff is keeping up appearances as well as possible, but the ship is going under.

It was fun to experience old-fashioned bougie Sweden. Beautiful views of the water. Excellent food at traditional full Swedish breakfast. Antique interiors with high ceilings. And antique Swedes as guests. We did one spa day and it was quite basic sauna, hot tub, pool. The local area was beautiful. There are renovating the hotel so some areas are a construction zone and you need to overlook that.

Old luxury hotel

Nice hotel. However, it's in urgent need of renovation. Built in the late 1800s the hotel is quite old and need some improvements. They are currently renovating parts of the building, but there is still more to do before this project can be considered done.

Poorly maintained

The hotel is very old and not well maintained. It is under renovation and they had partially started with the room I was given. Quite a poor experience. Thankfully I only stayed one night.
