Fantastic 5 star hotel. Room was superb and evening turndown service is a very nice touch. Staff were incredibly helpful and professional. The spa though is superb - it also has direct access to the beach which allowed a swim in the sea before back into the spa area. The dining room, bar and outside sitting area overlooking the beach is a real standout. Would absolutely stay here again when I come back to Saint Jean De Luz.

Beautiful hotel, perfect location, with kind, helpful and friendly staff. Lovely spa. Our city view room experienced quite a lot of noise from the road and early morning hotel deliveries. The experience in an ocean front room is completely different, but comes at a premium at almost double the price. Saint Jean de Luz is a charming town and the Basque coast is beautiful.

Good location in front of the beach. The indoor swimming pool and hot tubs are nice and well maintained, and certainly a highlight. The rooms are small (even the deluxe rooms) . The furniture is not of the highest quality and somewhat beat up. Small bathroom. The staff tends to be rude and unhelpful. That includes the staff at the reception and many of the waiters. The breakfast is substandard, which is a disappointment given the location overlooking the bay. All and all, this is not a 5 star hotel. More like a 3.5 star, with poor service and severely overpriced. I do not recommend it.

Hotel deserves its five star rating. Rooms are really attractive, location is right on the beach, staff are friendly and efficient. The sea water swimming pool is a real bonus. We loved drinks on the terrace at sunset.

Lovely Historic Hotel

This is a majestic old (but updated) hotel with excellent service. They gave us a tour of the facility and explained all the available services. The whirlpool, sauna, and steam room were all included in the price of the room. They even upgraded our room to ocean view! What incredible service at an incredible hotel.

Really nice, maybe 4.5 rather than 5 stars

Impressive building, right on the seafront, nice character. Really lovely staff and service. Nice decor in the rooms, furnished to a high standard, big beds, nice linen and many pillows! We were kindly upgraded (bc Gold Hotels.com member?) to a sea view room, which was lovely. Despite the rain getting in and soaking the carpet by the French windows (just an upkeep issue). The spa is really nice, vaulted ceilings, impressive reception area that you pass through. Good sauna and steam room. Not sure about the salt room, wasn't very warm? Pool area could do with a bit of TLC, starting to show wear and tear. There was some brown slime on the edge of the seats in the hammam 😬. Decent bar area with good cocktail selection and snacks. You pay for the location, prestige and building, but it's nice and the reception and spa staff were really lovely.

We had a wonderful stay at Grand Hôtel Spa & Thalasso. The hotel has a beautiful historic charm while still feeling comfortable and well maintained. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had gorgeous views. The staff was warm, welcoming, and friendly throughout our stay. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Highly recommend.
