Nice location - freezing cold

Birthday treat away. Lovely setting on a farm. We were given a cottage rather than a room, which was a nice surprise, however, it was freezing cold as the owner had not put the heating on. There was also loads of cobwebs everywhere, making us feel that cleanliness was not great. There was no information the room to indicate wifi, so the facilities were lacking. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment. Location was great, but we would not stay here again as it was too cold, not clean and no wifi or other facilities.

Hidden gem

Hidden gem, stayed in a small apartment for the week. Bare in mind you are staying on a working riding stables so don't be alarmed at the occasional noises as the sun comes up. A nice peaceful weeks stay whilst working in the area. Good access and parking for a works van.

Simply Perfect!

After 2 weeks of traveling and before heading back home to the US, I booked this last minute and are we glad we did! There is 450 acres of beauty. The room we stayed in was very rustic, Spiral room. The sink in the bathroom was an old horse troff and the tub was one of the kind you sit in and wash off. Had a kitchen and a cute living room with a spacious loft bedroom. Bed was the BEST we had in our 2 week journey. You can tell they spent money on the mattress and bedding. It was a dream bed and I'm pretty particular. Maggie, the owner, was so gracious. Made us breakfast both mornings which were delicious! She set up a horseback ride for us. Visit Henley if you have the opp for a day walk in a great little town. We ate at the pub down the street and the food was amazing! Fun place, great food, great staff. This place was a 10 for us. My only thought though is I personally could have used a blow dryer as I did not bring one with me and that isn't a complaint, just would have been nice to have. Go visit! It's simply lovely!

Christmas accommodation

We stayed here because it was close to our daughter for Christmas. As such we only required a bed for each night and nothing more. It was ideal for this purpose, but it would also be excellent for a family holiday especially if the children like horses and riding.

Lovely

The farmhouse offers spacious en suite rooms, but scattered around the farm are converted barns and buildings into flats, with a kitchen, sitting area and one or two bedrooms. Some eccentric, some contemporary, all comfortable. Set in an equestrian centre for peace, tranquillity and a good nights sleep. I'll be back soon. :-)

Acquired taste.

Working horse stables and farm. Pokey accommodation with no breakfast as not booked in advance, despite booking b&b. Over priced and isolated.

Nature retreat

The hotel was hard to locate, you would have to have a car as it was in a rather remote area. However, the unique selling point is nature! And it's where you can learn how to ride horses. We liked the period character of the buildings and our room.

Like staying at home

Brilliant I just wish I had more than a night so I could have explored a little. Bed was comfortable and the room was typical of a country farm house. Woke to a beautiful view of fields and horses! Maggie, who I think owned the house, was very helpful and gave me directions as I arrived late, it could be difficult to find in the dark. She also recomended a pub round the corner which served fantastic food. I would definitely stay again!!

Fabulous location, friendly hosts & scrummy bacon!

Staying at Herons Farm was a last minute decision as I found myself in the area for an extra night and my usual hotel was fully booked. What a lovely surprise this place was. The B&B is split between some rooms in the main house as well as some self contained units in converted stable blocks outside. I stayed in one of the self contained units that was very cute, simply decorated and very comfortable. I had a little kitchen, lounge, bathroom and 2 bedrooms. In the morning I ate breakfast in the main farmhouse. The atmosphere is very relaxed and homely and the breakfast was yummy with super bacon! I will definitely stay here again and possibly bring my family along as the children would be delighted by the many horses roaming about that are the real loves of this family (whilst I was here there was a group of Norwegian children on a riding holiday) A lovely stay and great value for money. Thank you for having me.

Chocolate box setting

Lovely location. We stayed in Dandelion - self catering. A few downsides. This is a working farm, several facets to business, mainly horses and weddings venue/business conferences. So unfortunately - other noisy guests meant sleepless nights for my partner and I. On all 3 nights we where awoken at 4am, with my partner having to leave 6am for work. Not good. Add to the fact my partner has terminal cancer, this means we cant consider this as suitable. We are looking elsewhere for a long term let.;-( such a shame. One final area for improvement. SC you expect to keep accommodation clean yourself, thats easy with just two. But you do expect the kitchen rubbish to be taken daily by the B&B. Ours wasn't touched for all of the four day let.

Beautiful rural location

We booked this B & B at the last minute to get away from it all in a country location. We were so pleased to find Herons Farm. The location was really beautiful and peaceful and we were kindly given Dandelion cottage - although we had only booked a room, which was lovely. We had a good breakfast and were made very welcome. We would definatly stay here again.

Have a change, and give it a try

This is a very different hotel. The owener, Maggie, will make you very welcome as well as a cup of tea/coffee. This is a B&B, so if you like non-discript places with no character, go stay elsewhere. The rooms are unique, I was even given a choice, one of which was the one mentioned below by the US guy - and the bathroom is across a little corrider (with a heafty curtain - but there are door on both the room and loo! Not to mention the bathroom, which features a Japanees deap-tub plus a very large shower, is bigger than some whole rooms I have stayed in. I actualy elected for a room at the front as the matress was firmer, as thats my prefrence. This turned out to have a shower cubical that doubles as a steam room. How may places have you stayed where you have a private steam room? Also a 42" LCD TV with FreeSAT. Maggie will add in a full cooked breakfast at a small cost. I was even given a tour of the recently coverted barn with rooms in a "cottage style" which would be great for collegues attending events or courses in the area. These have small kittchens and microwaves. Dinner is not available (or did not seem to be) but there are plenty of local pubs which are a mile or two away or even Pangbourne a little further. The hotel could do with a bit of maintenance, but that seems to be under way - you can't do it all at once, I'm sure they will get there. As a last bonus - free WiFi, running at around 3 to 5 Meg, with no silly login or restrictions, but play fair with it.
