They had to twin size mattresses put together like a king size bed, but they were moving in all directions. Mattress was very uncomfortable and pillows were very very hard. breakfast was good and plenty . Location was good.

Great hotel to stay at coming from the US. You’re about 500 steps from the beach which seems like a lot but it’s not more than any other hotel. Beautiful view and friendly staff. I’ll stay here again next time we visit

The view from our balcony was breathtaking. The free breakfast and cappuccino in the morning was very much appreciated. More options than most places in Italy. When reserving I received an email and message asking whether we wanted the hotel to arrange for a driver to pick us up from the Napoli Central train station. We accepted and the driver was on time, helpful and efficient. The price of our room was surprisingly low for the value we received. 5 stars for Hotel Il Gabbiano. We hope to come back.

This is a magical little property run by the Guida family. Everything is perfect, from the rooms to the views, breakfasts, the common area/bar overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Pure solace.

Great location! I spent a lot of time researching where to stay while in Rome. Having been a student here many years ago, I knew the location I wanted to be in for convenience and accessibility and this hotel met that criteria. It's an easy walk to everything you would want to do and see in Rome and the convenience of restaurants around the hotel was an added bonus. We were on the 5th floor with a terrace. I know other reviews sited the noise level but I didn't find it that noisy. Heck folks, you are in a city, you are going to have street noise. The only negative review would be that the storm windows/door did not go up all the way so we didn't have a good view out the window and we had to duck under to exit to the terrace.

Beautful views & great balcony from the room. Slightly older hotel but nice overall for the area within the price range. Breakfast delivered to room was great & very helpful staff. Lots of stairs from beach area but thats Positano as a whole not specific to the hotel.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and absolutely adored this boutique hotel! Fabulous breakfast. Amazing staff. Beware its a hike to and from the Port of Positano but great way to burn off the pasta, pizza and gelato! Highly recommend this hotel!

I was very hesitant at first about booking here bc of some average reviews, however this turned out to be a lovely place. So happy we stayed at this boutique hotel. Not sure what the other rooms are like, but ours was wonderful, perfect size and the balcony was our favorite.

We loved Hotel Gabbiano!! The location was perfect close to beach and shoppping and great restaurants!! The views from our patio were amazing. This is a family owned and operated property and each family member we met were lovely people!! Highly recommend!!

What a wonderful family-run hotel. Great service all around with clean, spacious rooms. They even deliver breakfast to your room so you can eat out on the balcony overlooking the sea.

We had a lovely stay at the Il Gabbiano .. the staff was super friendly and the apartment spacious. The location was excellent with great views and easy walk to City Center.

A pleasant and comfortable stay. Above the hustle and bustle of Positano. Friendly and helpful hosts and glad but that side would tho they provided parking. A 15-20 minute walk down to the beach and boat pier. The walk back up not for the faint hearted but that said would thoroughly recommend and priced appropriately

Small old fashion Italian property! Great views! We were instructed by the hotel to give our luggage to a porter by the ferry which was a life saver! Those steps in Positano are something else!

Wonderful view from bedroom, very clean, attentive staff. No restaurant but breakfast order delivered to room for eating on balcony. There are c480 steps down to beach but we found it easier to return by walking up most of the way by road

The perfect stay in Positano! The friendly staff took excellent care of us. Each room features a balcony that overlooks the most beautiful town I’ve ever seen. You’re going to walk… a lot, it’s the only way to get around in that town, but there is no better place to stay. Everything was perfect.

The views from this property are worth the price alone. The common area is lovely, where you can help yourself to the communal fridge full of beer, etc. (it's not free). We booked a large double with sea view, but the view was not nearly as good as a much smaller room directly above us. So they gave us that room. Yes, small, and nothing fancy - but, as i say, who cares when you have that stunning view? We spent very little time in our room anyway. Even if we were in there for drinks before dinner or whatever, we were outside on our large beautiful terrace, watching the boats and the sunset, etc. An added bonus i did not know about is they deliver breakfast right to your room every morning! So breakfast on that terrace every day. Doesn't get much better than that! Parking was pricey (like all of Positano) but it's right on site, and they valet. All in all, great value for money. And staff were all lovely.

Not what I expected but a good hotel nonetheless.
Quaint little hotel with first impressions being a little under whelming. As you spend time here you develop appreciation for it because you realize you don’t spend very much time in the hotel and if you smoke cigars the view and balcony are second to none. The staff is accommodating Beds although they appear uncomfortable is comfortable although it’s just a series of twin size beds connected to each other. Positano is meant to be spent outdoors 4 of the 5 days we were there rained but we still made the most of it and the hotel provided us with a place to sleep and see the views. The hotel itself is no frills but they do their best to provide with genera service. Quite frankly while the price point of $408 per night doesn’t appear as cheap Peres it is cheap for positano. So adjust your expectations slightly and you will love it and all it’s charm. Paolo is the best. I couldn’t imagine my trip without him there at the desk because he spoke some Spanish which made it easier to communicate.

This hotel has an amazing view of the sea! The room is a bit small but the patio with the lounging chairs was great. The stay also came with a great breakfast! Would recommend staying here, good value for Positano!

Nicely appointed and clean. Wish there were screens on the windows so we can get fresh air during the night without mosquitoes. The climb up the steps back from the beach was a real workout.

Me and my friend had 24hrs in Positano and stayed at Hotel Gabbiano. We were welcomed by wonderful staff and got a cute room with a stunning view. The reception was staffed 24/7 and we got a nice breakfast served at the balcony in the morning. All in all a great place we would recommend to stay if you are visiting Positano.
