I checked into the LaQuinta Hotel in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana on July 16, 2025 (Room 709). We dropped our bags and my family and I went to visit relatives and then to dinner. At dinner, my daughter stated that when she went to use the bathroom and inspect it the bathroom shower was dirty. I immediately contacted the hotel via the text help line that they provided. They responded and stated that they would have someone to clean the room. I told them that we were out to dinner so they could let themselves in to clean. Upon my return, the front desk clerk, Nadege stated that they didn’t have any one on staff to clean the room at the time and we were moved to another room (Room 414). Upon check out, July 19, 2025, I discovered that I was assessed a $500.00 smoking charge for the room. I’m not, nor have I ever been a smoker. The front desk staff told me that I’d have to follow up with my bank because “more than likely, the hotel wouldn’t reimburse me.” I am very disappointed with LaQuinta and I’ve left a message with the front desk staff to request that the cameras and key cards be pulled and that a manager follow up with me. Additionally, I plan to cancel my future stay with LaQuinta as I had planned to stay at that same hotel within the next three weeks because of the fact that I’m dropping my daughter off to college in New Orleans. I am requesting a refund of the $500 that was charged to my card for the fraudulent smoking fee.
