The owner said he didn’t have my reservation but not to worry. He told me to sit down and enjoy lunch on him (he owns a restaurant by the same name)The owner charged me full price for my room and charged me for lunch- he never gave me a bill). Then said he would help me pick up my bags from my car outside the center of Matera. Instead he took me to an occupied apartment and told me this is where I’d be staying. There was nothing available in town (it was a holiday). I kept the key so I would have access to a bathroom. I ended up sleeping in my car.
