Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The property has lots of character and history. It's located in the quaint village of Morpeth, only 10 minutes from Matiland. We had no hot water on the first morning which was due to it all being used by other guests. We were reassured this hadn't happened before but that didn't really help on a winter morning. The internet also wasn't working.
It was the worst experience of staying in a place. It’s called a hotel but it’s not even convenient like a cabin. Full of cockroaches and spiders around the room poor cleaning and poor service. No one is responsible as a reception or answering your calls. The wooden building is super old and upstair residents keep banging on the floor to make every one quiet whole time. We had to escape from there after spending nonsleeping night
Cockroaches, fridge stopped working, sewage smell coming out of the shower drain each morning, no bathroom soap, no bottle of wine as written in the welcome book, and uncaring responses from property owners to concerns raised.
It was amazing, the history of the place, furnishing & ambience was great and how central it was to all the amenities was spot on. We were so glad that we stayed in the Monte Carlo Suite & had it to ourselves, the Verandah was amazing. The only negative we would have is the stairs, we are in our 60's and found it a little bit challenging, having said that it didn't deter from a fabulous stay but if you are physically challenged just be aware.
