"We had a wonderful time at this ryokan. We chose this inn specifically for its remote location and traditional atmosphere and were not disappointed. The hotel, outdoor onsen, and woodsy surroundings were all excellent. The building is old and reminded me of the railroad lodges of the western United States: creaky old doors and floors, metal keys, and rotary dial phones.
Other than the hotel, there are no restaurants nearby (that I know of) and dinner is an elaborate kaiseki ryori that requires...
"A great stay in Takayama and super close to train station.
Lovely extra facilities during your stay and all the shops and restaurants are conveniently close :)"
"Beautiful cultural experience. Having your own onsen and choice of the public onsen was very nice. We did not think the seiki breakfasts and dinner were worth the astoundingly expensive price. I would next time not book the meals, exorbitant cost at nearly $300 each time"
"It’s all about dogs there. Love how the Japanese love their furkids. Hygiene measures, dog runs, dog onsen with humans, dogs can access everywhere in this hotel, even the restaurants."
"You can’t do much better than this when staying in Takayama. Right next to the station and walking distance to key attractions. The family suite was amazing and my daughters loved the camping play room and projector. The breakfast was perfect and the staff couldn’t be any more helpful. Great value stay!"
"This is a very special Ryokan, the best we had on our 2 week holiday. The food was exceptional. The staff were very attentive and made a lot of effort for us. "
"The owner of the Jas Hotel is very friendly and happy to help. Beautiful scenery and warm onsen. There is food served as well which is all homemade. Much love is poured out in this place."

"Stayed here on a family holiday in a large room with 3 beds. Great location (right next to the station with multiple restaurants and shops nearby) and good value. Very helpful staff. Clean rooms with amenities available as required. Only downside is that the hotel parking is very limited. However, there is a large car park on the other side of the station with plenty of space and it’s only a 5 min walk away. Would be happy to recommend to others. "
"Amazing hotel. Wonderful staff just a block from train station. Onsen was fantastic. Food exceptional. A+ hotel. Cannot wait to visit again. KR. Kieffer USA California vistor"
"This was an amazing experience for my family and I. We had such an amazing time. Service was unbelievable. Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back. "
"great place to stay. Service, onsen, food and location were great for staying as the main location for going out from Takayama. Price is a little dear but the service and quality goes with it. "
"What a great little hotel! It's a little off the main street, so it's quiet and peaceful, but cross the main road, and you'll be right in the heart of the action in Takayama with restaurants, bars, and shops. Parking is quick and easily accessible as well. The hotel is well-appointed and clean, the staff are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, and they provided great tips. Highly recommended!"
"Our best hotel so far. Everything met my needs and the breakfast was tasty, and a great machine for beverages. Bath was nice and bed was decent for us and my pregnant wife. The traditional sweets place across the road, for small treats and mochi was worth it! Very happy."
