Walked into what can only be described as an abandoned building auditioning for a horror movie. No lights — like, literally someone stole every bulb in the staircase. The stairs? A cross between a construction site and a death trap. No apartment numbers, no clues, just me guessing where my future ghost would haunt. Do not stay here — unless you’re 18, indestructible, and planning to crawl home from the nightclubs below anyway.

The apartment itself was clean, with a nice sitting room & kitchen area. The bedroom had an air conditioner, which was needed in June! As mentioned in the other reviews, the apartment is in the old area of Lisbon, walking the streets with luggage that would be difficult to carry is a significant issue. The stairs are treacherously steep, but there are handrails all the way up the four flights of stairs. The street outside is the noisiest, party area I have ever visited. The bedroom has a balcony overlooking this area. Which would be wonderful if you were looking for a place to stay while you party in old Lisbon - not great if you want to sleep at night. I ended up having to sleep on the couch so I could shut the bedroom door and get a bit of a sound barrier going. There were 2 electric fans in the apartment, only one of which worked, which ended up being my source of cooling. As a female travelling alone, I did feel safe in the apartment, and honestly, the street was so active later in the evening that I wasn't worried when I walked down the street at 11:30pm. Kudos to the city sanitation workers who start their daily cleanup each morning, because the place was cleaned up well each morning.

We never even made it to the apartment. We arrived at night, and there was no light in the entry or on the initial two flights of steep stairs. We had not been informed that the apartment was on the fourth floor with no elevator; with my bad back I couldn't even get my suitcase up the first flight of stairs and we eventually gave up.

This apartment is dangerous.

The day before departure, I was informed that I had to pick up the keys at the office, which is more than 20 minutes away by car, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., resulting in additional taxi fare. To get to the apartment, I had to carry my luggage up four flights of stairs in the dark. The ceiling in the bedroom was full of cracks, and it should be repaired as soon as possible before someone gets seriously injured. Anyway, I am surprised that this apartment is not illegal.

The apartment was great!! Comfortable. But I can not stress enough, that if you have large bags, think twice. The stairs to the apartment are treacherously steep and there is no light, of any kind in the stairway. Also a problem is the key to the front door on the street. It has to be jiggled and pulled forward and up and a whole process to make the door open. I had three different people that live in the neighborhood, stop and help me with it. They knew how to open it because they have helped other guests that have stayed there; so it’s a very well known problem. Louisa the bartender next door was amazing! Saved my life. Also. That street is like Bourbon street until about 4 am. Didn’t bother me I can sleep through anything, but if you can’t… beware.

WARNING: This apartment is located on Bairro Alto’s main party street. If you’re sensitive to noise, this is probably not the place for you. If you’re looking for nightlife, however, the location is ideal. Even on the 4th floor with the windows closed, the noise and bass from the bars and clubs below were clearly noticeable. We bought earplugs, but still didn’t get a full night’s sleep during our 5-night stay. The apartment itself was clean and generally well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped, the air conditioning worked quietly and efficiently, and the space was tidy. The main downside was a bathroom sink that clogged easily. The building is old and not soundproof. Communication before arrival was frustrating. We completed the required check-in form several days in advance but never received confirmation or instructions regarding key collection. Multiple messages to the host resulted only in automated replies. On the day of arrival, I had to call the listed number, only to reach someone who couldn’t assist. Later, I was asked by email to call a different number, where I was informed of a late check-in fee because we arrived after 10 PM. The host met us at the apartment (which we appreciated), but we were charged €70 for late check-in and daily taxes. The fees were not communicated clearly beforehand and felt questionable. If you choose this accommodation, I strongly recommend confirming all check-in procedures and additional charges with the host before arrival.

No pudo salir peor. Me he sentido estafado desde primera hora.

Outro ponto a destacar é a localização. É possível fazer muita coisa a pé.

Perfect spot for a party weekend in Lisbon

Barrio Alto Stylish is absolutely incredible! When you walk up a weird dingy stairs, through a weird dingy door, you are completely blown away by this cool, modern apartment. It is right in the central of one of the party streets in Bairro Alto which was perfect for us at the weekend, but if you are looking for somewhere quiet, this is not the place for you. You can hear a bit of noise from the street at the weekends because of people outside the bars, but if you are there to be out and having fun you are the noise:) Perfect for a weekend to be central, not so perfect if you are an early to be type. For us, amazing! Homing were also super helpful and gave us a late checkout.

PESSIMO TUTTO!!!!

Pessimo tutto!!

Nice apartment but be aware of the area. It’s the old area during the day but a party area during night - every day. We couldn’t sleep because of the noise from the street just outside the door - and it was Tuesday-Thursday, The service was good but be aware of the extra charge for cleaning - 25 euro.
