Best view of the valley. Unbeatable there. Dated interior. If you are looking for bells and whistles…no bells or whistles here. Bare minimum….no tv’s in the room. Bottom row of rooms with balconies…shared balcony space. If that matters then request up a floor or 2.
The mountain view from the hotel was beautiful, and most of the staff members were pleasant. However, my overall experience was very disappointing.
A staff member named Judith Graf Engi was extremely sarcastic and dismissive whenever I asked questions, which made me feel unwelcome. The room itself was very small, with hardly any outlets. Bathroom had only one usable plug that was hidden on the side of the bathroom mirror—something no guest would reasonably think to check. When I asked about it, Judith responded with sarcasm instead of help.
There was also no iron in the room. We had to go down to the lobby, and staff had to plug in an iron in a nearby room for us to use—very inconvenient.
Breakfast was another letdown. The only egg option was boiling your own eggs, and the chef didn’t even arrive until 9 a.m., even though breakfast started at 7:30. If you wanted eggs cooked differently, you had to pay 7.50 CHF for just two eggs.
While the view was stunning and some staff were nice, the poor service, sarcastic remarks, tiny rooms, and inconvenient amenities made this a hotel I cannot recommend—especially for American travelers.
Wonderful hotel, away from the tourist masses. Amazing mountain views (if you get the room with the view). Amazing breakfast selection included in the price of the room. The room is compact but for the price, it’s hard to beat.

Clean room and great staff. A bit of a walk from stores but not a big deal if you plan on hiking anyway
Maybe this hotel was a 3 star hotel 50 years ago but now in 2025 it’s a 1 star hotel. Here is why
Terrible beds. Your back will hurt. I’m 35 and in good shape but these beds are not acceptable.
2 pillows. One that is tiny and one that is gigantic. I went to ask if they have other but they told me they recently upgrade from 1 to 2 pillows...
Rude reception and very aggressive
Tables for breakfast is ”designated” tables but they were not ready when we came down.
Very basic breakfast. Only boiled eggs. Big sign saying you cant take fruit with you from the breakfast
Welcome drink is a orange juice from a box
Hairdryer not working
Rooms have not been renovated for many years and is VERY BASIC
The rooms with a view do not have a full view.
And we paid $400 for this a night. I know Switzerland is very expensive but this is a waste of money. Go to Belvedere 5 min away. They know how to run a hotel.
This is a lovely old hotel .4 miles from Wengen Hb. Hotel has great breakfasts and great views. As many swiss hotels and trains do, they seem to operate on the class system. If you book on Expedia or hotels.com (etc), you are given a non view room, and you are not offered seating near the scenic windows for breakfast. Hotel offers fast RT luggage pickup to/from rail station (not taxi service for people). Hotel in very quiet part of town. Staff do work hard to try to please. Really the only down side to this hotel is distance from rail station - thus I would not choose to stay here again. The walk is not flat but up and down. Hotel may not be best suited for limited mobility seniors. Our room had a shower in a very high-walled tub - a bit difficult for seniors. Staff uniforms are all the same everyday. Would like to see newer uniforms and rotation of a couple different styles and colors.
The location of this property is like a dream in the beautiful, quaint village of Wengen surrounded by incredible views. Breakfast was included and it was really really good!! The staff was helpful and kind. They picked us up at the train station when we arrived and took us to the train station when we departed. So helpful!!
I would stay there again.
The hotel is 100 years old and so charming. The property is well-maintained and clean. The rooms aren’t fancy - they are simple but clean, cozy, and comfortable. The views are breathtaking. We sat on the balcony in awe at the splendor of the mountains and waterfalls - it felt like a dream. The balcony wraps around the back of the hotel so it is a shared balcony but everyone respected each other’s privacy. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is adequate: pastries, fruit, coffee, meats, boiled eggs, and cheese. We didn’t eat dinner there but it always smelled good. The bed was stiff. My husband liked it but I prefer something a little squishier. Overall, it is an enchanting place and we absolutely loved our stay. I would definitely return.
The view from the property was really spectacular! The dinners were delicious, and the breakfast buffet was the largest I’ve ever seen (also delicious). And Judith was very helpful and accommodating to me throughout my stay. Just a wonderful stay!
Beautiful view. Very comfortable room. Staff very friendly and eager to help. There is an elevator but you have to walk down a flight of stairs to get to the registration desk and dining room. If staying on 3rd floor you must take a flight of stairs to get from 2nd floor elevator to the 3 rd floor. Consider this if you have limited mobility. Would definitely stay here again. The view is magnificent.
I have never in my life seen anyone work as hard as the owner of this hotel (Judith). Our family really appreciated the hospitality extended to us!
kudos to the magnificent food served! You wouldn’t think that a mountain hotel would serve such elegant and sophisticated meals! Also…the spectacular views of the Eiger, Monk and Junfrau was something out of a dream! If you are considering a trip to Switzerland, go see Judith and experience the vacation of a lifetime!
