What a wonderful property, comfortable accommodations and lovely breakfast! The owner was fun and knowledgeable in many areas and was great to visit with. Definitely will be back!!!

Great place to stay

Frank, the owner of this B&B was very helpful and friendly. The B&B is lovely and his antiques were beautiful. The little town of Lansing, Iowa is right on the Mississippi. We enjoyed going up to the local park on the bluffs which gave us a panoramic view of the Mississippi. Beautiful.

You have to stay here.

This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast. Im 40 years old and didnt know what to expect. Usually I stay at some well known Hotel chain. After seeing the pictures listed online for this property I just had to stay here. Once I arrived at the BnB. I was taken back by how beautiful this place was. Greeted at the Door by Frank. Who is a very kind easy to talk to person. Very passionate about his home and explainined everything very clear. Gave us a lil tour of the lower level. We stayed in the Grand Room. That porch is breathtaking. He gave us some dinner suggestions near by. We were on foot. Easy 2 min walk to some great food and drinks. Everyone we talked to were some of the nicest people we had ever met. Clean bathroom/room along with a very comfortable bed got us the much needed rest to make our journey back home. Nice breakfast in the morning and had some time to chat with Frank before we left. I just had to leave this review as its well deserved and feel others should have the chance to experience what we did. We will definitely be staying here when back in Lansing Iowa

We stayed at Thornton Place one night while travelling down the Great River road. The property was clean and well cared for. Frank was very hospitable and shared the history of the home. We very much enjoyed our stay!

This was an amazing stay in a quiet little town close to all manner of outdoor recreation. The house is wonderful, stuffed full of history and cool antiques. Breakfast, cooked and baked fresh from scratch every morning, was tasty and filling. The proprietor was pleasant and helpful and seemed to always be there if we needed something, but otherwise it was as if we had the space completely to ourselves. Restaurants and shops a few minutes' walk away; on the edge of a nature preserve, so chock-full of birdsong. For paddling, the Reno Bottoms Canoe Trail is less than 30 minutes' drive and the Upper Iowa River well under an hour; for hiking, Wyalusing and Pikes Peak are even closer than that. Cannot say enough good things about this place, you can book with absolute confidence that you will get your money's worth and be satisfied.

The house was conveniently located for what we did in the area, but it was the owner who made our time at the house memorable. He gave us an historic insight to the family who built and lived in the home. The breakfasts were excellent, and pleasantly served. The decor of the house was totally charming. We left feeling like family and will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful home, Frank the owner was so accommodating,I can not eat gluten, so he made me a gluten free breakfast. The home was sparkling clean, and very comfortable, I would highly recommend this B&B

Really Great Bed and Breakfast

The house was really well preserved and the decour matched the period of the house. Frank, the owner, was a fantastic host and made us feel at home. He provided some great sight-seeing ideas. We were able to see the Trumpeter Swans during their migration. They were feeding just north of Lansing off the banks of Brownsville MN. There is a really nice state park adjacent to the house and we enjoyed hiking the area. The views from the part overlook were amazing. The town of Lansing is very quaint and it is located in a really beautiful section of the Mississippi River Basin. We would recommend this area and location to anyone who enjoys history and wildlife.

Nice quiet bed and breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Owner was very personable. Great breakfast 🙂. Nice little town by the Mississippi River.
