Why stay at a hotel when you can have a machiya experience? Convenient location yet a nice private getaway. Steep stairs and low doorways may not make this a good choice for everyone. But a wonderful base for your visit to Kyoto.

Stayed for 5 nights in Kyoto. I loved the machiya! The house was large with several rooms, well equipped and very comfortably furnished. The location was also very good, with many major sites within easy walking distance and train and bus access was very convenient. Many good restaurants to eat nearby as well. I was there with my husband and 2 kids (4 and 6). The kids loved sleeping on the futon beds and being able to look out onto the little garden. They also loved how many doors there were to get outside, so that kept them occupied. We've travelled all over japan in the last year and these were by far the most comfortable beds we've stayed in as well. The staff was friendly and helpful and everything went very smoothly. The only negative I would offer is that the windows were all seemingly single pane and there was basically no noise protection from the outside. Though the road wasn't super busy, we could hear every car that drove by, even though the bedrooms were the farthest from the street. Overall though we had a wonderful time in this place and I would definitely stay there again.

Great experience in a Japanese style Machiya

We enjoyed to stay in a beautiful Japanese style house for 2 nights. It is located close to Higashiyama underground station and you will find there easily from the station. There are coffee and Japanese tea (3 kinds of Japanese tea!!) Only one big issue is the internet connection in the house. There is a pocket wi-if upstairs but it almost didn't work for searching for a restaurant or checking SNS or uploading photos. Overall, I highly recommend you :)

住宿環境非常優良，位於住宿區，住宿品質優良、就算怕吵的人也非常適合入住。 屋內設備齊全，洗烘衣機、廚房一應俱全，不須準備太多生活用品即可放心入住。 非常適合一家人一起出遊入住。 僅交通方便較為不便，東山站出站後需再步行6-10分鐘， 且入住前須先去離京都車站15分鐘距離的地方CHECK-IN， 這部分須先了解。 另外就是住宿網站上的飯店顯示位置(GOOGLE MAP上的)跟實際是完全不同的地方， 實際位置在東山站附近，網站上標示的是在四条河原町附近， 如果想住在四条河原町周邊的需特別注意!!!!

Good room, Bad service...

通常のホテルと違い、フロントがある訳では無いので、チェックインに関する情報などは、事前にシッカリとしたアナウンスがほしいところ。しかしながら、仕事で遅い時間のチェックインとなり、運営事務所の電話は通じず、英語で携帯電話の番号アナウンスはあるも、残念ながら発音の良くない英語で番号案内され聞き取りにくく。辛うじて電話し、入室方法を確認するも、しばらく電話口で待たされる始末。入室して暫くした後にメールが届き、入室方法が分からない場合は「部屋に設置の携帯電話を使用して」連絡くれと指示。入室できないことを、どうやって部屋の電話で伝えるの？

Great experience in your own Japanese house

We loved our 4-night stay here. It was a wonderful experience to be in our own traditional five -room Japanese house in a beautiful part of eastern Kyoto near subway stations and easily accessible to every part of the city. A large shower/bath room, and two additional half baths, full kitchen and every conceivable appliance--even a lit enclosed garden off the living room, made this a 5 star home experience. Twin western beds in the largish upstairs bedroom, with floor cushions available to use living/dining room for additional traditional sleeping arrangements. This was a charming experience. Due to narrow steps to second floor this is not appropriate for people with accessibility needs.

優質住宿，但交通不便

是用心經營的一家具有濃厚日式風格的民宿，不論是設備還是備品不輸五星飯店。但交通實在是不方便，要先到京都車站附近check in(在日本光憑地址要找是有一點難度，因為它是隱身在某棟樓之上)，然後再到住宿地點，拉著行李要走上一段路再等公車、然後再走上一小段路，因為是全家出遊，我改搭計程車就花費1500日幣左右。住宿地點離公車站走路約2分鐘，搭計程車到『新京極』是千元有找。

Vain yksi kylpyhuone, tosin kaksi wc:tä lisäksi. Kerrosten välikatossa liikuskeli orava tms. Talo sinällään mukava. Talon ja respan välillä melkoisesti matkaa.

4人住非常適合

有點（但不是非常）不方便是要在京都火車店走路不遠處要check in 第一次住這類性的所以覺得很特別也感覺很好下次想再去住

Beautiful traditional japanese house

We enjoyed the house a lot. The only thing is that we got some difficulties to find the place with all luggages and kids. Otherwise, it was a wonderful place.

Perfect japanese experience

This townhouse is very nice, perfect to visit Kyoto in total fredom with your friends or in family. Built and decorated in a traditional japanese style, it's still has modern amenities, like the best bathroom I gave ever experienced. It's well located, with easy transportation access to any sightseeing place you would like to visit. A maid comes every day to do a minimum of cleaning and changing towels and other stuff. The staff at the check in is very nice, and helped us every time we called them during our stay. If I have any negative point to express, it would be t he Wi-Fi speed, which is lower than what I'm used to.
