I wasn’t expecting a one bedroom apartment! Our room was very spacious with a full kitchen including dishes! The bed was comfortable and water pressure was amazing! Just a few block walk to The Plaza but is a very steep hill coming back. Ample parking, we were able to park in the back where our “apartment” back door was with no extra charge. There’s a front door that opens into a hallway and exits on a sidewalk in front. Would definitely book again if the need ever arises!

The front desk personnel were excellent in every way. Could not ask for better people.
The room was dismal. #318. The only window looked directly at people eating breakfast.
Smelled musty. The smell of bacon and toast in the morning.
The front desk were gracious and moved us to another room. Thank you.
We came to Kansas City to visit an exhibition at the Nelson Atkins Museum, so picked this hotel mainly for it's close proximity from the museum. It's location is excellent, just steps away from Kansas City's historical neighborhood Country Club Plaza with various stores and restaurants around, close to museums and attractions. Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, decent breakfast. The only complaint comes from parking, it charges for onsite parking while there are plenty of free street parking around and even a free parking lot nearby.
We were on the 4th floor which I assume allows pets because our carpet smelled like pee if you got close, which we did with a toddler. It wasn’t cleaned as well as we’d have liked, finding tiny things in the carpet and in the cupboards. It’s an older building so expect some water damage. The air conditioning was only on or off. If I tried to raise the temp slightly, it would switch to heat. No thanks. The breakfast was very average. Your basic scrambled eggs and waffles with cereal and bought muffins. Terrible coffee. The location was good though!
Very convenient location.
Breakfast was good but once the hotel changes all the utensils in paper products, it lowers the CLASS of the hotel. What a shame. Also, there should be HOT WATER in the breakfast room as I couldn't make my hot tea in the morning. Very unhappy about that.
The location of this property was excellent; it's within walking distance of lots of cute boutiques and standard shops such as Sephora, Pandora, Nike, Lulu, etc. It was also very close to several local pubs and restaurant options. When we do use Uber to the stadium and BBQ places, we were within a 10-minute drive. Our longest drive was to the airport, but nothing crazy. The staff was all very nice. The suite was way bigger than I expected. Very roomy and plenty of space for a couple. The continental breakfast was plentiful, with lots of warm options as well as ready-to-go items.
Check in was at 3pm but room was available until after 5pm. Front desk lady was sarcastic and not apologetic at all when we expressed our frustration and urgency to enter the room. She was complaining about her own situation (staff shortage).
This hotel smells like cigarettes and stale beer. Not just our rooms but all of the rooms and hallways. Disgusting. Needs to be renovated more than any marriott hotel on planet earth. The interior of the hotel and rooms are also so tired and worn out- at least 25 years of heavy use.
Could not recommend less. Bummer. Nice staff though!
We checked in around 6:00 pm went to room unpacked and went to leave and the door did not lock. Attempted to contact the front desk but the phone wasn’t working something about internet down but we had wifi? Went down to front desk she asked if we wanted to change rooms so we packed up and moved to another room that was not as “nice” as the first one. I use that word loosely. Fridge was in the bathroom, dirty shorts in the closet air conditioner leaked all night. Approached front desk and asked about air conditioner and they said maintenance wasn’t available so do we want to switch rooms?? This is twice now. I would find another place to stay if you are looking. We stayed two nights and had to move three times.
We had a really good time. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and they had a good breakfast for in the morning as well. Would recommend to anyone coming to Kansas City!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Room was clean and spacious, well thought out design. (Some friends on the same trip had a different experience - loud AC unit duct taped to a window.) Bed was comfortable, bathroom had plenty of warm water, kitchen amenities were great. Breakfast was good with many options. Staff was helpful and friendly. Cost seemed high, but could have been partly due to FIFA events (this was not why we were in town).
Great location. Close and easy walk to The Plaza. Fresh and well stocked breakfast. When they ran out of food items the staff replaced with fresh items quickly. All the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful.
First, let me describe the positives of this property. The front desk staff was super attentive and very kind. By far the best part of our stay. Also, the property was only one block from the Plaza. So the restaurants were very close and there was a wide selection to choose from. We had some excellent meals. Also, the daily breakfast was excellent. A good selection to choose from.
Unfortunately, there were some serious downsides to the actual room. First of all, we had the misfortune of booking during the World Cup. As a result, our single room suite was over $700 per night. Ouch! Our room was not in the main building of the hotel but in an annex on the ground level.
The room came equipped with a full kitchen. Unfortunately, the room was probably last updated in 1984. The carpet was old and looked miserable. The bathroom and sink were terribly outdated. The place looked like a low-rent apartment, not a $700-per-night suite. It literally had a low-quality motel feel.
I have to be honest. I'm a platinum-level Marriott customer. I've stayed at all Marriott brands. In my 40 years of travel, this is by far the worst Marriott-branded hotel I have stayed in.
I have never rated rooms for Hotel.com or any other outlet. However, the disappointment with this stay was so great, I felt compelled to write about it.
Perhaps the rooms in the main building are better. Unfortunately, none were available despite our early arrival. As such, the main building rooms may be better.
Everything was really good but the only issue was the toilet…was making noice and running some water every 45/60 min and at night was too noisy and bothered us a little. Rather than that, all was perfect
