The hospitality was truly brilliant. We don’t speak Japanese and the staff were so helpful and patient. The breakfast and dinners were the best meals we have ever had. We are already dreaming about the flavors. One person in our party is very allergic to fish and is a vegetarian - they were so thoughtful and creative with the substitutions - she loved everything! The private onsen was also an amazing treat - nothing like a hot dip on a cold night looking at stars and bamboo forest. We would definitely recommend and return! The town is also just a short walk away (and lovey through the walking path through the park). Just a lovely, dreamy, stay.
The photos they post made this hotel look stunning but in actuality everywhere you looked where signs of age and serious disrepair. Peeling wallpaper, stained ceilings with water damage, marks and scratches on walls. The Kaisakei dinner was not great either. The outdoor onsen was nice. This hotel needs a serious makeover.
A nice Ryokan Hotel. It's rice theme is carried through in the hotel decor as the area is surrounded by rice fields.
Good concept & architecture or interior design. Hotel is next to a fast flowing river & tall Bamboo grove which give it a unique continuous sound & calming ambiance....next to your room.
May be due to overall economic downturn, the external/exterior area suffers from some wear & tear & maintenance. Some sprucing up of the exterior would help freshen up the hotel.
Otherwise, the hotel interior is still well kept & maintained.
Service is excellent & food is tasty & well presented.
Price wise, slightly on the high side which may be limiting factor.
Onsen water is good since it is near the source.
