PERFECT!!!! We were a group of 14 traveling from NYC to Turkey for the very first time. This hotel was just perfect for us, very convenient, clean and most polite and welcoming staff. It’s the perfect location for tourist. The guys at the front desk was exceptionally friendly and gave us some incredible recommendations of places and events, Mevlut and Mahmut deserves an award for their hospitality 😄😄. Love their rooftop dining, great breakfast. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Golden City Hotel is our dream come true!

Golden City Hotel is a special place for my wife and I. We were engaged while staying there our first time and our brief return was like reliving our incredible first experience in Istanbul. Perfect location and accommodations!

I stayed at this hotel in 2012 and would say it was better then. The breakfast was better then. The air conditioning in our room was not cold enough even set at 16 degrees. The mattresses in the rooms where not the most comfortable and far too soft. The room window would not close tightly and hence could hear the traffic all night long. The rooms were clean, showers were also good, however in some of the other rooms my party stayed in the shower cubicles were tiny. Front reception staff were nice, Ilker and Mahmud. Staff at breakfast time were not very friendly either. Best thing about this hotel is the view from the roof restaurant area, overlooking the city.

I booked a room with a sea view and I couldn't have hoped for better. Ali gave me a warm welcome and all the staff were helpful and attentive. The restaurant service was good in the evening and for breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable. I'll definitely return next time I'm in Istanbul.

Good location, one block from the Bosphorus. The hotel is divided in two buildings that are not connected, the second one ‘more modern’ is in the back that you have to access via a dark dirty alley. The entrance to the second building smells like rotten fish.

We enjoyed our stay. The view was magnificent! It’s location is ideal to use the Metro or Tram. Finding a Taxi was difficult as taxi drivers wanted more money because of traffic jams in and out of Sultan Ahmed area. We liked the staff very much. Everyone from front desk to breakfast staff were friendly and very helpful. Always had a smile and willing to help. We would for sure come again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Istanbul Golden City Hotel. They free upgraded our room with Bosphorus sea view on a higher floor because it was my birthday! The breakfast option was marvelous at the rooftop Restaurant. Enjoyed the magnificent city view with morning coffee. Only critic would be we saw someone ordered omelet for breakfast but when we asked for it they said it would be extra charge. The hot breakfast was included in our stay so that was a tad confusing.

Located 6 minutes or so from the T1 tram station at Karakoram and the M2 metro at Halic. Nearby there are several fish restaurants. Very few grocery stores, none that sell liquor. Hotel rooms, bathrooms are tiny. Elevator capacity is 3 people. Breakfast buffet is not abundant, just the basics. Only black, filtered coffee available, no machine that can dispense espresso or cappuccino. Boiled and scrambled eggs provided, omelette is extra.

The staff are so kind and hospitable. I did not take his name. He is a handsome young man at the front desk on November 8. He was extremely polite & helpful. He went the extra mile to answer my questions. Now, my original reservation at a different hotel was canceled for some reason. So I walked to a second hotel next door, and the man at the front desk was also kind & helped me find a room in Golden City Hotel. The impression I get in my interactions with the locals is just wonderful. Hospitable, soft spoken & kind. This may be their culture, but as far as Golden City Hotel is concerned, I am grateful for my experience there. One last thing, the breakfast on the top floor, gives a spectacular view.

I booked a room with panoramic view. It's the whole reason I chose the hotel. Upon arrival, only a regular view room was given. I called the reception and he argued that one of the pictures on display was not panoramic view and it's upon availability. However, the room size wasn't right, and I paid more for the room type. I was moved to the right room the next day. No price difference was given for the first day. They should be more honest with the room description by removing the wrong picture and honor the room type per booking.

We stayed on top floor (9th) which had great view of the little Bosphorus. Short walk to public transport, and central for fish restaurants. The street below seems filled with trades supply shops. So not so classy however safe to walk around Hotel has a decent restaurant on top terrace with great views while dining. Breakfast was great and lunch and dinner is avail with the typical menu of kofte, fish, chicken and salads and beverages Staff was helpful One thing to note, if your a/c is not working, just ring the reception as they have a seperate switch If you travelled with the bus from airport, get off at taksim however the you may find it hard to get a taxi, you need to walk to corner in the direction of hotel. And if you are lucky enough to get a taxi they will charge a fixed rate (not meter), at the time of this note cabbie asked 100tl, approx $4usd. Which is a fair price but if you can convince one to take you
