The staff was very friendly and the room spacious. The breakfast selection was fulfilling. Main thing to know is that the key for the room also opens the main door when the front desk is not manned and that checkin is during a four hour window.

Missing Reservation
The front desk lady could not find our reservation, then she claimed the reservation was not confirmed. After showing my Hotels.com confirmation, she had to clean a room us herself since the cleaner was on leave. Otherwise the hotel is fine.

Owner was a lovely lady, felt like a home not a Hotel. Kindly offered us a few breakfast items as there were no morning dining options in the town. The lounge, although we didn't use it, would be a great gathering spot after a long day. Kitchen was well equipped and we really appreciated the coffee and tea selection!

Hvammstangi is a smaller town, but a pleasant place to stay the night. Our room was big enough for both of us with our luggage and it had everything we needed. The bed gave us the most comfortable sleep we have had in Iceland, it was great. We had access to a kitchen to make our breakfast in the morning, so it was almost like being at home. Nice place to stay.

A pleasant stay
We found our stay here pleasant. The hotel is clean and well kept, the staff friendly and helpful and the location easy to access. The rooms were standard and comfortable and the wifi was strong and reliable. We would have no worries staying here again.

Hotel Hvammstangi
Room was fine, no tv in room and sparsely decoration. There was outside noise and sounds from common area could be loud. No breakfast served but there was coffee and tea.If it weren’t for the private bathroom, the experience would have been more like a hostel.

Good location, easy to find but close to local attractions. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The room was clean, maybe a little small as a family room but it was fine for one night and would be perfect as a double or twin. The only slight criticism is that the shower curtain didn't prevent water from exiting the shower so the bathroom got very wet, a shower screen or door would be a great improvement if possible.

Very basic but fit the bill. Pull out couch not very comfortable but queen size bed was fine. Private bath a plus. Breakfast included was great.

This place is a great stop if you’re driving the ring road. The room was clean and comfortable. The host was incredibly helpful and gave us lots of advice on sites to see. She was super friendly - and after our stay, we drove about 3 hours away towards Reykjavík, and realized we left our laptop at the hotel. She was willing to send it back to Canada for us but instead to save her the trouble, we drove all the way back and she met us there with our laptop! Can’t thank her enough! Will definitely stay here again.

Cozy clean small hotel
Hvammstangi is nice beautiful little town. Not to much of touristy. My stay was very nice because I did not expect from pictures that it will be nice clean place. In the town there is a wool factory,if you are interested in buying Icelandic sweaters. Very reasonable price then other tourist areas.

Great stay at a simple, comfortable low key hotel. It is located in a small town with some great restaurant options. The hotel is well maintained, the bed was comfortable and the room very clean. Breakfast was pretty standard for Iceland with good variety,

Good for a one night stay
We stayed in a twin room with shared bathroom. The room itself was quite small. The roof was slated so had to bend over to get to some parts of the room. The toilet and shower rooms were clean and roomy. The walls were quite thin so hallway noise could be heard easily. The breakfast at this hotel was buffet style and delicious. Lots of food to choose from including assorted breads, cold cuts, fruit and pastries to name a few. Comfortable enough for a one night stay.
