Bad Service and Dirty
Booked for a weekend romantic getaway. Booked and asked for a non-smoking room and got a smoking one. The hotel advertised a spa and pool, both were closed or not available. The steam room was moldy and dirty, so did not use that. They were also doing construction on the weekend, even in the morning. Bad customer service, well below the star 4/5 star rating. Not worth $130 per night in Vietnam.

Beautiful hotel but limited options eating in.
Beautiful place to stay however a few small details could have made our stay 10/10. Having to search for kettle and hairdryer, ironing board but no iron, no coffee in room, just tea.

NOT a 5 Star Hotel !
Not a 5 stars hotel! When booking this hotel my filter setting was for only 5 starts hotels so when it showed up in the results, I trusted that it was such. I am an experienced buisness traveler that only stays at 5 stars rated hotels. I have no idea how Tajmasago Castle obtained its rating but I can say without any doubt that it is not worthy of a 5 star rating, not 4, maybe 3. The location is terrible for someone who never been to Ho Chi Minh City before, it is far away from everything, and you must use a taxi to get in out of there. For some reason this hotel has No "Hotel" or " Tajmasago" signs anywhere on the building, there is absolutely no indication on the building that it is the Tajmasago Hotel, so when you order a taxi or Uber don't expect the driver to locate the place. I actually did not want to stay there once i was dropped off by my Uber, realizing that it is the middle of no where, so I tried to cancel my prepaid booking at the checkin desk but the desk manager strongly refused and recommended me to stay 1 night. It was late, I was tired so I stayed, The room was nice and setup as a mini suite on the 2nd and only floor of this building. But that was it. There are no 5 start hotel amenities, no gym, no pool, no restaurant the place feels more like a hostel. I will deal with Hotel.com directly to dispute this stay and make it right. Staff was nice but that don't change anything, you cant turn a 3 star hotel to a 5 star just by smiling.

Dear Ron Thank you for your review. We are pleased that after considering to which location to stay in Ho Chi Minh City you have booked our hotel. We regret that you have experienced such inconveniences getting to the hotel and travelling with taxi or uber driver who unable to locate the hotel or overlooked the Tajmasago signage. The Tajmasago hotel is located in Phu My Hung, District 7 which accessibly walking distance to Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center, Crescent Mall, Restaurants, less than 10 minutes drive to several International Schools and just 15 – 20 minutes ride to city center. We have two restaurants plus BBQ garden by the poolside that accommodates 250 guests. Also available is a gym, sauna and spa for our guests. On another note, it is good to know that room setup and our staff attitude is according to your liking. Thank you, once again, for taking time to post a review. We wish you wonderful days ahead. Thank you. Best regards, Ron Espi General Manager

A wonderful alternative to the corporate chains
The hotel is wonderful and the staff is friendly and so willing to help, but a lot is lost in translation. I missed a tour bus for a reason I never figured out other than me not being early and waiting. Supposedly, the driver came in asking for me and giving my room number, then left with another guest. The tour did pay for a taxi for me, so it ended up alright. I never did figure out if there was not any hot water in the shower or if I was ignorant in how the various knobs worked. It wasn't important enough for me, but worth noting here. The gym is extremely nice, but call a few minutes before you head down there for them to turn the lights and A/C on, otherwise it'll be a sauna.

Everything was great except the Wifi connection was a bit slow and often got disconnected. The surrounding neighbourhood is nice and has many restaurants and a big shopping mall a short walk away. The service staff were friendly and very helpful.

Cool room layout.
Exquisite room layout. Feels like a suite. You have to stay here to understand. The bathroom placement in the middle of the hotel room was pretty cool. Very large room. Hotel lobby was fabulously decorated too. We would stay here again. Hotel is walking distance to a mall. The spa next door was ok (massage and mani/pedi was not the greatest). But the proximity to popular HCM is a bit far (eg. Ben Thanh market, District 1 sites, etc.).

Magical castle
I found the hotel on line and it was even better then I thought. It was a little hard to find but once we arrived we were well taken care if. It was decorated for Christmas but still had a regal feel. The service was very good and the rooms were large. We walked around the property and found fun restaurants and shop. The pool and food service was also very good. A great place to stay. Only thing it is a little ways out .

amazing hotel - disappointing service
The hotel is absolutely stunning, so tastefully decorated and every detail was thought of. It was clean and amazing. The service however did not match to these standards- although the staff was trying to please us, they had problem speaking English, whenever you asked them for something they were more interested in messaging on their private phones rather than helping you and some cleaner was hoovering in the room next door at 12 am... I had to go and tell him off. We also had to wait around 30 mins for breakfast to arrive and chase it. The hotel is not in the city centre and some people said they wondered why we stayed there but when they entered the hotel they said they understood why. if only the service had been better it would have got an amazing review. the deco at the hotel is amazing and very stylish!

Good Relaxing place
Good things: - It is a good experience to stay in Tajmasogo, special design with black/white pattern, not like the brand name hotel which is standard setup - It is such a quiet hotel that it just like a resort (Although it is not as big as the resort in size) far away from the busy, crowded downtown (district 1&2) - there is a crescent walking path nearby, you would feel a relax, comfortable and safe place to walk around during the morning and evening time. - Excellent customer service, all servers are polite especially the concierge, they help us to call taxi, discuss the tour with travel agents, make reservation to the restaurant, etc, provide exclusive service to us. Need improvement: - Room door is locked by 4-digits passcode and do not have manual lock locked from inside, others can come inside when we are at the room, mentally not secured enough - we stay in the room which close to the busy road, the slide door of balcony not sound isolated enough, a bit noisy before 11pm - Cabinet door cannot be closed tidily - Slipper size is too small

Thieves in Tajamasago Castle
Hi Travellers There are Thieves at Tamasago Castle. I hope that my story will be a warning for all traveller who intend to stay at this hotel. Please take these notes and be careful. On 20/02/2015 I have just finished my 10 days at this hotel, and after checking out I was shocked and realized that $1200 (AUD) was missing from the safe which originally had $10000. The only people who could have accessed the safe were the staffs. I know with 100% certainty that someone secretly accessed the safe because I never touched that money ever since I placed it in the safe ($10000 still intact) and now I only have $8800.I called and reported to the hotel manager and been told that will call me back after discuss with the owner but they never will. I had no choice to report the police after that and they did nothing. I know now my money will never come back to me. In conclusion, there is a connection between room maker and the manager in Tajmasago Hotel. They teach each other how to open the safe and know everything you have in there. If you use the safe to keep cash or valuable things in there, you will lose it. I hope my story will help and please think over before planning to stay at this hotel. It's so unbelievable and I have never seen in any other country. Regards TV Nguyen

Don't stay here
I travel often and this has to be my worst experience. The services from receptionist , guard , to restaurant are terrible. Everyone is unfriendly the whole time we were there. We saw two other families during our stay and they also complained about the service. We knew that the location is not ideal but we wanted to stay there once and we regretted our booking with them the whole time. The employees didn't greet or smile. The only time they talked was when they offered us a more quite room for $30 more a night. Service at the restaurant was extremely slow and bad even they had only few guests. It took 45 minutes for our breakfast and another 20 for condiments. We reminded them several times and they said it was on the way. Nobody cared enough to go to the kitchen to check. Doorman didn't open the door for us every time we came back to the hotel. I'm not picky and this is the first time I write a review because I don't want anyone else to have the same experience. This must be the reason why only few guests stayed there and it is in the bottom few hotels of trip advisor. Save your time and money by staying somewhere else. We also stayed at silverland sakyo in saigon which is only a 4 star hotel, half the price and the service was outstanding.

Showing signs of wear and tear...
This is rated as a five star hotel, but I would give it a 4 at best. At the time of construction it was no expenses spared but over time I am seeing degradation to the facilities due to lack of overall maintenance. Pros: Unique themed hotel and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Rooms are well maintained Cons: Pool is poorly maintained, you see algae on the grouts and even their logos are failing apart. Gym has really gross carpet installed, they should of used laminates. The group that built this hotel had the best of intentions, but there just isn't enough foot traffic of the high end variety in a backwards city such as this to sustain their operations. The place was literally deserted when we were there.

gonna try its presidential suite next time!
My family and I like this hotel very much. The hotel is kind of interesting in interior and building design, like some kind of mixture of Arabic and maybe Indian (that is why called Tajmasago, refer to Tajma-ha palace??) We simply stayed in the hotel for 3 days, just go out for meals or walk around the neighborhood. it was a very relaxing trip, not much hurry-sightseeing arrangement but just stay/ rest/ sleep in its super huge room (like 60+sqm...)

not a typical hotel/ resort...a very good one!
This time to Saigon we wanted to try something different, away from the city center, so we picked Tajmasago castle. The hotel is amazing, small like a botique hotel size, but the rooms are huge. The hotel has kind of Indian/ Arabic(?) style and shinning everywhere. Staff was very helpful. The hotel location is perfect to anyone who has a symposium/trade show at the SECC, and its surroundings/ neighborhood seems like some kind of "new district", kinda modern, compare to the old city area. It's located near a lake and it is very quite area with quite a few nice restaurants and very western shopping centre near by. overall it is an interesting experience staying in the Tajmasago castle.

Amazing Hotel
We stayed at Tajmasago Castle for 3 nights and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The staff spoke reasonably good English and were extremely helpful and courteous to our every need. From the most beautiful French decor to the very helpful staff, very large, clean rooms. Huge bathtub, separate toilet and shower.

Amazing hotel close to exhibition centre
We book the hotel since it was close to the Saigon exhibition centre were we had a trade show. The hotel is simply amazing, very small in terms of room numbers (I think only 19) but the rooms are huge. The hotel has kind of 'arabic' motif and it is simply stunning. The room was shinning all the time. Staff was very helpfull and ready to answer any question or request. We had an early flight before breakfast sowhile waiting for the taxi, we ask coffee which arrived in now time free of charge. The hotel location is perfect to anyone who has a symposium/trade show at the SECC . The location is also not 'typical' Vietnamese. The hotel located near a lake and it is very quite area with quite a few nice restaurants and very western shopping centre near by.

Taj Mahal meets Art Deco - a bit fantastical!
Beautiful setting and the decor makes you feel like you living in a surreal dream. However many staff have limited English (though they try to be helpful) some improvement on check in to the room wouldn't go astray as lights are in hard to find places, tv remote requires a lesson, soap, menus, kettle and rubbish bins are not where you would expect so it can be frustrating upon arrival. Some of the practicalities of the design are curious - twin beds but open plan bathroom can be awkward I suspect. Fabulous food in French restaurants but unnecessarily overpriced drinks. Location is not practical to explore Ho Chi Min but in the newest part of Vietnam ( expat territory) so feels more like Singapore. The photos of the place make up for most of it though.

Very unique surroundings, close to many resturants
The manager & majority of staff are very professfional & accommodating,my only observation was that if you don't speak or understand Vietnamese you had better get a translation dictionary, not that many Vietnamese understand any English language. My wife is from Phillipines & I am Australian,it was very suprising to me that the majority of Vietnamese nationals we met would assume my wife was Vietnamese & speak to her in their language of course she did not understand a word, which was quite amusing to try and explain.I also observed that some Asians do not approve of an Australian being in a relationship with an Asian, which I found to be very closed minded in this day & age as Australia is very multi cultural.Unfortunately some Japanese think they are superior to all other Asian & westerners, they really need a reality check. All in all a very enjoyable trip with very unique culture and people.
