You'll appreciate the restaurants during your time in Nea Alikarnassos and you might want to plan a stop by Heraklion Port and Heraklion Archaeological Museum while you're in the area.

Excellent hotel and excellent staff. They always take care of us ensuring we have the room we like. All the staff are welcoming. The food and rooms are excellent. We have stayed many times and will continue to do so.

Really enjoyed Heraklion - huge quantity of restaurants, coffee bars etc. Very few people trying to beg for money. Lots of stray dogs and cats which the lovely people of Heraklion leave food and water for and they mostly looked very healthy.
Archaeological museum is a must. The people are amazing. This city has real heart. ❤️
So much better than I remembered from 40years ago. Great shops and bars and restaurants with excellent food.

Our ferry arrived late into Heraklion. I wouldn’t stay in Heraklion for an extended period, but the Knossos Palace was very interesting and it was a good first night in Crete.
nice city, lots of history, plenty of places to go out drink/eat, but not the best looking of towns that Crete has to offer
