True Montana Experience
Elkhorn B&B is situated high atop a mountain just south of Helena and it is a breath of fresh air; not your usual overnight accommodation. You must drive up the mountain on a dirt road, winding between boulder and grazing cattle, which provides the ultimate Montana experience. There is a sense of real freedom. The lodge is a beautiful log structure, with welcoming fireplace and large windows overlooking the valleys and mountains. One of the best treats is Ryan, she is an outstanding cook. Her breakfasts are delicious and innovative. There is a professional chef during the busy season, but I think Ryan is outstanding. Rooms are themed by state parks -- I had the Yellowstone room and it was cozy, comfortable, felt like home (with better decorating)!
I stayed at the Elkhorn while on a business trip to Helena. It made a business trip seem like a vacation. The B&B is conveniently located to major roads, it was a quick 10-15 minute drive to Helena. Perfect.
This was such a great experience, I plan to take my family to Montana and we will definitely stay at the Elkhorn.
