"This place is a hidden gem! 20 mins outside of Heraklion in a nice small town called Gournes. I honestly cannot say enough about this place. Staff is awesome. George at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. For example: we ordered a taxi pickup for leaving at 645am and he brought a bagged lunch to our room the night prior since we would miss the breakfast…..little things like that happened constantly. "It was so relaxed. Perfectly run and all the staff were friendly. They went the extra mile to help me celebrate my birthday and accommodated my husband visiting unexpectedly. It’s a beautiful location and although it’s nice to get out and explore, everything you could possibly want is right here at peninsula. Will definitely come back here one day!"

"Great little hotel if you're looking for somewhere affordable to stay near Heraklion airport. You are not downtown at all, but there is a more commercial street close by (few minutes by foot) with restaurants, and a few basic necessity shops. Great pool and patio, quiet, basically residential neighbourhood, super nice staff (hello Maria!) and, as mentioned, about 5 minutes by taxi from the airport (be prepared to hear planes take-off, but rooms are very well sound insulated)."

"First would like to say I'd definitely come back to this hotel on my next holiday to Crete. The hotel is quite massive and lovely to walk around on a warm night. The room and the balcony was spotless. Didn't see much I didn't like about this hotel, many locations to sunbathe, swim and relax. Some of the hotel staff are polite and helpful especially the bartenders on the 17.00 shift on blue bar and the bar by the Olympic size pool, it was easy to have a conversation with them and they gave good recommendations on where to go and what to see around the island. The cleanup crew (as nice as they are) do not have patience, my do not disturb sign was on and countless times they knocked and walked in without waiting for an answer back which was an inconvenience cause we was either sleeping or getting changed. The food at the main restaurants had a good selection, tastey and filling. I personally enjoyed lunch in the restaurant by blue bar and the snack bar. The kebab best I've ever tasted. Although some of the desserts taste like they had been out for quite while. The hotel had a lot to offer in terms of entertainment every day was something new and was quite enjoyable. There are shops, restaurants, bars and a bus stop as soon as you exit the hotel which is very convenient."

"Had a wonderful experience at Creta Maris. Would recommend booking the theme restaurants as soon as you arrive to ensure you get to try the cuisine outside of the buffet although the buffet was good as well. Sometimes hard to find chairs by the pools but can generally find beach chairs. The staff were very friendly, would recommend the Nami wine cellar wine tour, the staff running it were very informative of the islands history and wines were very tasty."
