"Room smelled. Not in a good part of town"

"The Portlander was unknown to me before this trip, and I was pleasantly surprised. The premises were nicely maintained, and there were multiple amenities available (store, restaurant, movie theatre, deli, etc.). The included breakfast was quite ample as well as delicious (you get a voucher for a limited menu in their restaurant). It is a truck stop, but that just adds to the interesting ambiance. The room was quite adequate and was very clean. I would not hesitate to recommend the Portlander for other travelers."

"My family and I arrived there late aftee a long day of being in the airport hoping to get a good shower and decent sleep. When we arrived I surveyed the room and immediately noticed the "renovations" weren't much more than the signature wallpaper and classic Courtyard furniture. The bathrooms specifically were quite disgusting! The guy that checked us in tried his best to rectify my discovery of a dirty tub with hair and stains, by moving us to another room. I asked to inspect this new room before commiting to the move since it didnt have as much space, but much to my dismay the tub in the new room had a ring around and it and stains on the floor of the tub. The wallpaper had stains, the towel rack for the hand towels was hanging on my a nail, the carpets were worn and black with dirt The only only saving grace that the sheets were visibly clean and that we were able to leave the following morning. Additionally the walls were paper thin! The banging overhead, the planes flying by, and the guy across from us who had a 2 hour meeting at 7 am, we heard ALL of it! The project manager seemed to have a productive meeting at least. Needless to say we won't be back."
