Begin your outing at the visitor center, to absorb the history of the various cultures that mingled in this settlement—Russian, Alaskan, and native and mixed-heritage Californian. Back outside the fort's main entry, a gravel road travels a few hundred yards out onto the coastal terrace before dropping steeply to a small cove. First Russian settlement in early 1800s... Also site of California's first windmills and shipbuilding...
So, I was on a road down the coast, and really needed to use the restroom. I pulled in to the first place I saw. I didn’t make it to the restroom, but I did find this place. In the end, it turned out to be a happy accident.

The parking lot was well lit. Checking in virtually - was smooth. The room was clean and AC was working great. It was a bit loud from the outside considering it was almost midnight. The shower was not as strong because it was losing half the water from the lower spout. Hence the 4 stars. Otherwise it was a good stay. I would come back.

Parking issues: Was told the parking at the hotel was $17 a day to save a space, but that they did had “free” parking at the motel next door “budget in” so we parked there. The next morning was told by the front office guy to move my car or ir will be towed, we told him we were autorized to park there and he did not take it well, we finally had to move and park on the street.
