"Older hotel with decorating still in the 1990's. Not as clean as I expected and carpet quite worn. What I liked, though, is that the bed was very comfortable and the location was a two block walk from the beach. It was right downtown and walking distance to shops and restaurants."

"Lovely large room with a view of the river. However, there was a charter boat truck from Alpena parked right outside my window that was not used at all during my stay that blocked my view of the river. Comfortable memory foam mattress. Large TV. Parking was a problem as there were repairs going on for the hotel's personal parking lot but the young man staffing the desk assisted me in obtaining a spot that kept me from having to haul all the luggage from a city street parking area. If I had known about the parking issue, though, I would have chosen a differernt hotel. I understand that the parking lot issue was beyond the hotel's control but for the price of the room, I would have expected a better solution."

"This hotel is updated and right on #10 highway near major highways for easy assess to Luddington or Manistee, our favorite outings! Check in was a bit chaotic because everyone seemed to arrive right at 4 forming a long line and there was only one person at the desk. Maybe have a second person on duty at 4 just in case? Room was clean and the handicapped bathroom we requested was perfect for my hubby with a bath chair in a walking shower!! The breakfast was good but more healthy choices would be appreciated."

"I was surprised that the pool had keycard entry- then witnessed local kids were trying to gain access by saying they lost their keys. Fisherman’s breakfast Time was a lifesaver and they had a deep freezer for our use on the fishing trip. Beds were a little hard. It was clean. We had a maintenance issue that was resolved in record time. Staff was awesome all the way around. Our second fishing trip but a 100% better stay than the hotel the year before."

"Staff was friendly & helpful. Given that it was full, it was surprisingly quiet, which was very nice. Breakfast is always well stocked & there is always coffee & homemade cookies."

"Very clean basic room. Need to know the hair dryer is kept inside the drawer next to bed, not inside the bathroom. AC works very well and the carpet is very clean. Thanks for the hospitality."
