I booked at Golden Gates years back, it went great! I recently booked again at GG because of my previous experience with them. Golden Gates again was a great experience. Staff were very nice and professional. My flight was rebooked and I needed to stay an extra night, the transition was very fast and easy. Stores are nearby to purchase any necessities. If I’m ever in Dumaguete again, I’ll be staying at Golden Gates without hesitation.

The advertising pictures look nice but once you are LOCKED IN and PAID for everything, you are committed. There is NO window per room. The first room smelled like urine and cigarettes and oh yeah, it just so happened that when I walked in the building, they started working on MAINTENANCE hammering on first floor. This means the loud hammering carries upstairs. But once you shut the door, since there is no window, it is not bad. They did transfer to a room that is clean and quiet but the smell of wet toilet or mold will bother your sensitive noise. Please use CLOROX to remove mold and urine odor. Rooms must be aired out.

My experience at Golden Gates went pretty well. The staff was friendly and informative. Asked about if they had any touring services during my stay, staff took care of it rather quickly. The room was clean with a very chillin AC. Had to turn it off a few times. 7/11 next door was a savior during my stay. Highly recommend staying at Golden Gates if you’re going to be visiting dumaguete. Outside noise wasn’t too bad once you’re in your room. Stayed for 4 days, slept good every time.

This place was a great find on Expedia. The room was clean and the staff were accommodating. The place is close to everything! Sadly, they don’t serve free breakfast. There is a 7-11 store downstairs so the location is very convenient.

Rooms are very nice. Only issue is, we were booked on the 3rd floor. The stairs going up was too much as the place did not have an elevator

A silent haven
Always great, the suites are like silent little caves isolated from the noise and chaos outside. Whisper quiet air conditioner and the roof top area is magic for exercise or catching some sun.

Staff was nice, very clean, a few good local restaurants within walking distance. There are 2 gyms within 4 blocks. The only negative thing is how much the laundry service was. I can do twice as much laundry where I am living at now compared to what they were charging me. Overall, A-.

One night stay checks all the boxes
We only stayed for one night between flights. Hotel shuttle service was easy and very helpful. The staff was very friendly and helpful answering all our questions. The Room was clean and peaceful. It was a good choice for our needs. The location was great as well.

good value hotel good location and service
Hotel is fairly new but shows signs of wear. Bathroom tiles are stained, water is a bit weak. Service is fast but blankets are thin. No restaurant but you can eat in restos nearby. No elevator but you can take stairs. There is a guard which is good.

Hotel room is pretty dirty with ants and other bugs all over the walls and area. I didn’t even want to open the kitchen and clothes closets due to possible cockroaches. I was shocked we didn’t see one. The shower door and sink was broken. It reminded me of taking a shower in a door. The staff was very nice thou and accommodating. Unfortunately the halls were pretty noisy and the street noise was loud. For 45$ a night you can’t expect much but I was hoping it was going to be a touch cleaner

Friendly and helpful staff
Staff is friendly and helpful. Easy access to public transportation. Seems to be a safe area, but sometimes there are people who are a bit drunk around the covenience store at night. There is usually a security guard near the entrance to the hotel. Internet speed fluctuates throughout the day. Room is clean and comfortable. Stairs only.

Great spot.
Great hotel, quiet, clean and great staff that are happy to help. The hotels in a good spot not far from the waterfront and restaurants and some good shops around and local transport is both cheap and easy to navigate. Would stay here again when in Dumaguete.

Good but hard to find!
First problem was to find the location. Our GPS sent us way up and beyond in the street. We arrived late evening, and could not spot the sign. Had to ask three times for the direction. The hotel was quite new, and everything was clean and neat. We got a spacious family room. Some choices for the interior and bathroom was cheap and lousy Chinese quality. Towelhanger was loose, bathroom faucet was loose, sliding door in the shower was Rusty and no longer sliding, and all this already falling apart, in such a new hotel, tells me that they choose too low quality to get top score. Fix the cheap interior and put lights in the sign outdoor sign, and this will be tip top! PS: A 7/11 store at the entrance is also quite nice, so you can get any needing a for the night.

Safe, clean hotel. Very friendly & honest staff.
Left my jewelries under my pillow case then accidentally gave the used bedsheets and pillow cases with my jewelries inside one of the pillow case to house keeping staff. The next day while looking for my jewelries, I remembered that they were insid e the dirty pillow case. Asked the front desk if they found any jewelries and without any hesitation she said that house keeping secured them. Very thankful for their honesty. I highly recommend this hotel.

Everything about this hotel was OK. The area was clean. The hotel room was also clean. Linens are fresh. Smells good. The only problem we had was the toilet. The toilet bowl was stuffed and can't flush. Staff were courteous but could not do much about the problem. We requested a different room but the hotel was full at that time. we have to take advantage of the rest rooms at malls, restaurants and schools we visited. Not really comfortable.

Stayed for one night to quickly see Dumaguete before heading to Siquijor. The place is conveniently located in the town with 7/11, restaurants, and salon. Port is quickly accessible by tricycle at 10 pesos per person. Other attractions are within walking distance. Comfortable stay.

Small, but modern & clean room. All fittings and fixtures worked, even the warm water. Extra guest was able to stay on mattress provided at additional cost. Air con cooled well. WiFi good.

Booked a room for 3 adults, either a triple bed or a double plus a single bed but the room we were given was a SMALL twin room! After complaining we were given a small mattress and sheets + pillow as an "extra bed"! Very cramped and uncomfortable!! Too expensive for what we got!!

Okay hotel that is centrally located in the city
No frills hotel. Hotel facility is okay. There are no elevators but this was a non-issue as we were docked on the second floor. The room and the bathroom was clean and properly maintained. There is a 7-eleven store at the ground floor of the hotel which is a huge plus in my book as I don't have to worry about where to find drinking water at 2 in the morning.
