Person who checked me in talked/mumbled directions so quickly,you could not understand him. Had no idea where amneties like ice were located. Had 1 key card because they had not gotten the new ones in. Key card for the second room would not work the door

I believe housekeeping did not clean the room properly. The beds looked like they weren’t changed. The floors weren’t swept, it looked like the hairdryer dock had never been cleaned. The shower gel was empty. The bathroom garbage can had not been emptied from the previous tenant. The hotel needs an upgrade and a good cleaning. We also never had wifi for an entire day. Other than that it’s situated in canal park which is lovely

Love the location of the Suites. It’s quiet and has a great breakfast. Some areas are outdated. Could use upgrades on beds. They were down to only one elevator as well

Check in time was 4, they said the room hadn’t been cleaned yet. I went back at 5:30, it was ready but the sheet on the bed was very wrinkled and had human hair on it under the pillows. Also the bath towels had stains.

Dishwasher smelled like ass. No, worse than ass. It was an assault on my nose. There was only enough toilet paper for half an ass wipe. We had to go out and buy our own toilet paper because none was brought to our room. Sheets had yellow stains. Filthy. Took four hours to get a room. To compensate for our wait, they upgraded our room to one which had a jacuzzi, but also came with dirty sheets, dog hair, no toilet paper, and a nasty dishwasher which made our whole room smell so foul I gagged. The dishwasher leaked all over the carpet. Sensational. Also, tv was so small could barely see it from the bed. Do not stay here. So nasty. Will not be returning. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Normally I’d be too lazy to write a review, but this needed to be brought to management attention. I am apsolutely appalled.

I would not ever recommend this hotel to anyone. It was dirty, dark, old and SO noisy. You can hear everything. We had no window in our room it was like a dungeon. This hotel badly needs a remodel and updating. We didn’t get our room cleaned or any new towels. Just overall bad experience and luickly we were not in the hotel at all bc we were at the snocross race all weekend I would have switched hotels. Not a good experience at all, in fact the worst hotel I’ve ever been too

My suite was dirty . Hair on the pillow , hair in the bathtub, out side of toilet was dirty. I called the front and they were nice and got us into another room. It was better but you could tell it wasn’t cleaned like it should be . Dust, cracks , just runned down. I am grateful that the front desk tried and got a different room. However I stayed here a while ago and you can tell the difference, it’s very run down and I think they are short staffed. Lots of maintenance that needs to be taken care of. It was once a beautiful hotel. Unfortunately I won’t stay here again. If I’m paying for a nice place to stay that’s what I expect. Not a run down hotel were you are most likely get a dirty room.

DIRTY!!! The front desk came up to vaccume for me because there was so many crumbs and dog hair everywhere!! The hallways are filthy and the floors are dirty. The hot tub is under construction, and we were not told this before we booked. I asked to be switched to a different room, but no other room was available. I was hoping this was a cute and quirky hotel, but really its just a mess and needs to be cleaned for real! The location is great, but for 150.00 per night, id rather stay at a holiday inn and skip the 'local and different ' thing we were looking for. Honestly, if it wasnt so dirty, i could look past the stained couches and duct taped floors, but the dirtiness is not ok.

Location is ideal for canal park and especially if you’re doing any shows or events at Amsoil. Our room had food chunks and raisins on the floor like no one cleaned, all of the dishes in the kitchen were dirty, barely any towels in the room. The room also needs a lot of upgrades, peeling wallpaper, stained carpet. It served its purpose but definitely needs attention.

Great place to stay in the canal district. The property could use some sprucing up but was a good value for the money. We enjoyed the breakfast and the pool and hot tub. There’s a brewery right downstairs and several food options around. Staff was kind and helpful.

I have loved staying at The Suites for year, but the cleanliness of this hotel is seriously going down hill each year. It was obvious that there was lite cleaning done before our stay (items left on floor, old coffee pouch still in coffee maker, etc). The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating (besides the towels that I’m still waiting on). Being pet friendly is also a major plus. Overall, I’ll continue staying here for the location, great staff, and brewery.

I apologize for the moldy smell as you described. The building is an older building and it definitely doesn't have the new building smell. We are in the process of updating and doing some remodeling to improve the appearance.

It's an old warehouse converted to a hotel so it has funky charm. But the one thing that surprised me was that there was not a window in our room. I think all the rooms on that side did not have windows. Didn't even think to check that ahead of time. Never gave a thought to the possibility of NO WINDOW. We read some reviews about noise and rooms not clean but our room was clean and quiet. Just no window. Staff was pleasant, full kitchen in the room was very nice and the daily breakfast was also very good. Eggs, sausage, toast, sweet rolls, hash, assorted juices, coffee, etc. And even fresh giant waffles and more! It was a more complete breakfast than I ever thought it would be. Parking is not bad but it is across the street. If you are not from the area, that part of town can be a little confusing. But the quirkiness and the harbor and Lake Superior are all part of the charm.

Good Value. Not good if you drove two vehicles, as only one parking pass provided.

Thank you for your review. We do have a secondary lot that we allow the 2nd vehicle to park in. On your next stay with us please mention that you need to park the 2nd vehicle in the overflow lot.

The location is awesome as it is within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and fun things to do and it was a big plus having a full sized fridge and stove top in the room, however we had some unpleasant things come up. We were able to check in an hour early and were told that our room was clean but unfortunately it was quite the opposite when we walked in. The bathroom had not been cleaned and the shower drain was clogged, the bed was not made, and most of the outlets in the room did not work. Thankfully we were able to change rooms right away, and the second room was in much better condition. Yes, the location and extra amenities were nice but overall our experience was not good and not worth the time and money, even with a partial refund.

We attended a concert at the DECC and this hotel was perfect. A close walk to DECC and everything else you would want to do in Canal Park. Loved the somewhat quirky charm. The full kitchen was a nice bonus, although we only did the overnight. We’ll be back!
