"No 24 hr reception,therefore because of my delayed train from Germany, I wasn't able to stay, yet as soon as I told them about my delay ,they took their money from my bank account.
Very unprofessional and wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone,just in case you were delayed, and left stranded.
I travel a lot and never had this kind of problem, even as a gesture of goodwill they could've offered a partial refund.

"Wonderful stay in Varzo! Lovely mother and daughter hosts. Delicious homemade breakfast and very comfortable room with a nice view. Right down the hill from San Domenico ski area with excellent scenic hiking. Would recommend Chalet Il Picchio to all!"
"We spent one night at this hotel and loved it. We arrived early and one of our rooms was already ready, which was very convenient. Simple rooms but with everything. The spa is also great, and the restaurant is excellent. Everything went great and we will definitely stay here again whenever we come to this area. Only thing that could be improved is that the pool temperature was not very warm (definitely not 35 degrees), so it was a bit cold for the cool weather."
