The onsen was the best I’ve ever been in. The outdoor “wood spas” with about 10 different minerals and essential oils was absolutely fantastic.
My only gripe is that the half board meals are identical day to day. I only stayed 2 days, so I’m not sure how frequently the food items change. I will say the selection is giant. Because I’m used to places that change the food options daily.. I tried to eat through the whole buffet on the first day, trying little bits of everything. Had I realized it didn’t change, I would have just had larger portions of some items and tried other stuff the next day.
The room was beautiful, the onsen tubs were gorgeous and there were so many options for tubs. The dinner buffet was the best I've had at a hotel. My only disappoinment was trying to buy gifts from the shop onsite. I didn't realize they close at 11am. So with my hands full of items, they informed me the shop was closing. They did not offer to check me out or direct me to a register, just out of the shop. So I put all my items away and walked out, but I really wanted those items!
very nice to stay, definitely come back next time, its not very convenient if you are not able to drive there, but they have bus to transport you to airport and hotel
Amazing hot spring varieties. Unfortunately their rooms are worn out and in need of an upgrade, and the food at its buffet dining was mediocre at best.
The dinner food had alot of choices but the quality was lacking. The beef was dry and tough. The salmon sashimi was mediocre. They had a special food but very disappointing. Then after dinner, they require you to settle the bill. I think its best to settle everything when you check out. Even after clarification with the front desk they insist that i pay before 9pm!! I believe that management should review their policy.
This property is located in Date and is quite inconvenient overall. It is located in the middle of nowhere. However I guess all guests would arrive at the property in their own transport. It was disappointing because standard room did not offer private Onsen (description mentioned indoor onsen; however there’s a note in the room written in Japanese that the water coming out of the tap is the same kind of water in the onsen 😕); the overall amenities of the hotel is very very dated (they could have upgraded them whilst retaining its heritage/traditional aspect); the toilet “offers” multiple functions eg bidet, rinsing bottom etc however none of them worked; the sink was full of scums and was positioned so low that will suit a 3-year-old toddler; buffet dinner and breakfast were very very ordinary (didn’t give me an appetite to enjoy). Overall don’t be deceived by the grand reception hall as you’ll find it very disappointing once you head up to the room. Very disappointed by the amenities (without private onsen) and the price they charge. Way overpriced.
The checkin process and the staff at the front desk were very nice and accommodating. There was a lot of water damage along the windows in the lobby with the floor boards left to rot.
The room was very old and could use some serious upgrades. The bathroom was very, very dated as well.
The buffet was mediocre at best and the food was the same every night without a single change.
The onsen facility was very nice, especially the outdoor portion. It was magical in the snow.
