Because you came during the shoulder season, the dining options are VERY limited. There are usually options available for all meals Friday through Sunday until the middle of December. When the snowmobiling season kicks off, all restaurants will reopen. But until then, Miners Saloon does have some pretty good pizza.

Hi Melissa. I'm so sorry about your poor stay. I promise you would not fall through the floor. Sagging floor? I would have to disagree. Uneven? For sure. I would imagine every floor in every building in Cooke City is uneven. Buildings settle. And they tend to settle even more in an 87 year old building in an area where the ground is never dry. We received 362" of snow over the past winter. The ground stays saturated and buildings settle. Floors everywhere in Cooke City are uneven. We all get the same complaint. I do appreciate you letting me know about the light fixture being loose. That is something I will definitely take care of immediately. We purposely took off the knobs to every refrigerator? Do you know how mini fridges work? As soon as you open the door, all the cold air leaves immediately. So, it doesn't feel cold. I assure you that it works just fine. But when it doesn't immediately feel ice cold, guests assume the fridge isn't working property and they crank up the fridge to the point where it freezes over. And then we have problems. So we set the fridges just to the point where it won't freeze and we removed the knob to prevent guests from assuming it isn't working and freezing over the fridge. A speck of rust in the sink is your complaint. I looked at the room after receiving this review and there was literally one speck of rust (the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen). Now that, I would say, is a petty complaint. It sounds to me as if you were coming to the second most isolated town in the lower 48 states, in the middle of nowhere Montana, in a old, rustic, mining town, and were expecting some uptown urban elegance. Well that type of lodging simply doesn't exist in Cooke City. I'm sure you could tell that as soon as you entered the town. So, when you make a reservation at a "motel" you should expect a motel and not a high class resort. Your room was spotlessly clean (I see you didn't mention any uncleanliness), and everything was in working order. For your future travels I would recommend staying in a larger metropolitan area where you can find the luxuries you were expecting at a motel. Best of luck to you in your future travels.

Hi Patricia. This type of review is the difference between expectation and reality. I don't know if you looked around Cooke City at all, but the entire town is rustic. It's an old mountain, mining town. You had a two bedroom suite. Most people rave about our suites and how spacious they are and comfortable. We are the only hotel or motel in Cooke City which even offer suites. And they are always the first to be reserved. In your suite there is brand new carpet, paint, and fixtures. So, unless you were expecting some uptown urban elegance, your suite was in great condition. What do you mean by "no amenities"? You had a full kitchen in your suite with everything you need to cook and serve full meals. Did you expect us to provide the groceries also? We offer a guest laundry onsite. We offer morning coffee in our coffee room each morning. So, I'm definitely not sure which amenities you were lacking. You were sent a request to review your stay at Alpine Motel, and not to review the availability of dining options in the area. However, you made sure to include that anyway, even though Alpine Motel is not associated with any restaurant in town. But, during your stay the following restaurants were open for their regular hours -- Beartooth Cafe, Prospector's Restaurant, Bistro Cafe, Miners Saloon, Wooka's Wild Eats, Cooke City Coffee, Log Cabin Cafe, and Silver Gate BBQ. Perhaps if you're looking for some big town hotels and dining options you shouldn't travel to the second most isolated town in the lower 48 with a population of 75 people. Hello Wayne. Thank you so much for staying with us. And thanks for taking the time to review your visit. Just like every business in Cooke City, the owners and managers of businesses live where they work. My home is just behind the front desk. This is at EVERY hotel, motel, restaurant, gift shop, gas station in this town. That is why there are closing hours at every business -- including hotel/motel lobbies. It's so that we managers/owners can actually get some sleep. After the reception area closes, the lobby becomes an extension of my home. Our lobby hours are posted everywhere. And by everywhere I mean on our listing with Expedia and all online travel agency websites, on Google, on Yelp, on Trip Advisor, on Facebook, on Instagram. It clearly states on all those sites that our lobby closes at 8:00pm. And it also gives instructions on what to do if you arrive after that time. When you arrived at 8:15pm there was a large sign on the office door which states what to do if you arrive after the lobby has closed. Also, just to the right of the door is a red box which says "KEYS" in 6 inch letters on a 7 inch box. In that box you would have found a sealed envelope with your last name on it. In that envelope would have been your keys, a property map with highlighted directions to your room, and WiFi information -- just as the large sign on the door states. But you chose to ignore all of those things and barge into the office anyway despite the lights being off and the closed sign on the door. Perhaps the door was not locked yet as I do have some things to do after we close the reception. However, it was quite clear the lobby was closed. At that point you actually barged into my home as the lobby becomes an extension of my home after hours. Perhaps that is why you were not greeted with much enthusiasm. As for the air gap in the door and your lack of desire to stay here in the winter? Well, just don't. Best of luck to you in your future travels.

If there is a stain or spill, we can easily pull up the square and replace it with a new one.
