The first thing when I walked into the room was the smell, the moldy smell with the very dirty carpet made me feel anxious and I was scared that the bed was going to be just as bad. The wall had a loose flap hanging and the shower was definitely not clean. I couldn't sleep because of the constant noise and people talking. I will think twice before I book a room again.

We checked in late due to traveling and decided to stay here since we have an early flight the next day. Reception Staff was dismissive and can only say the wifi details and handed over our keys (not even checking an identification for a prepaid booking) Our room was next to the lift, which we do not entirely mind since we just want to take shower and have a nap for a very early flight. The door opens, and we smell sweat and sewage! We tried to ignore and thought maybe it was from outside. And due to the weather that day in Christchurch (17 degrees) in that small room it can be very hot so we made sure the air condition is working— we set it at 10 degrees and headed out for a quick dinner. After we came back we found the room a lot hotter and a lot smellier than when we arrived. We are from the same industry so we didnt want to be a bother since we are only staying for couple of hours. I turned off the air condition since it is not working whatever button I pressed except the High/Low Buttons and Power Button and opened the window (Thank goodness otherwise we will be suffocated to death!) The bathroom smells like sewage, and exhaust is not working, the bathroom door was ajar and when I tried to slide it in, it cannot be closed, I had to asked my husband to lift the whole door fram to close and open for me to find that there’s a huge gap and you can see the whole thing from outside. Molds everywhere! And bonus part was, there was a booger on the wall. Disgusting! Shower doo

Everything about this accomodation is the best, great facilities, great staff and there's always tons of free food items so you don't have to worry about salt or cooking oils, or coffee even. Big thanks to a staff member, the tall gentleman wearing the cap, outstanding service and a warm welcoming presence, as well as going above and beyond to help me with the locker code and laundry facilities. Definitely a staff member that makes lylo Christchurch an accomodation i and others will recommend to friends and family.

Yes the shared kitchen and eating area is great, but it is hard to keep it clean the whole time. I only see dish detergent but no cleaning product for the counters and tables. I did not see paper towels. The room is not great but very basic. It is close enough to the airport with a grocery store and strip mall so the convenience makes me going back.

We arrived at 1am and were quickly checked in and not long after in bed asleep. A basic room and amenities but if all you’re doing is sleeping and leaving, it fits the bill. Lots of breakfast options nearby from Coffee Club to McDonalds to Woolworths supermarket. Able to leave luggage at Lylo (in unsecured area, free of charge) to visit the International Antarctic Centre. Caught the local bus 8 into the city - super easy and efficient!

A short stay between layovers for two adults in a queen room. Male staff member on the front desk at 1am was pleasant and efficient. The room was as described online: simple and clean but unfortunately the surrounding noise from neighbouring rooms and cars made for a disruptive sleep constantly. The walls are extremely thin so every sound travels the windows are not soundproofed. Overall ok for a few hours.

This is a uniquely excellent hotel in my wide travel experience. Extremely convenient to CHC Christchurch Airport (easy, 10 minute walk), very comfortable and affordable for all budgets. All the facilities are modern, well maintained and especially suited to the budget travelers to whom the hotel mainly caters. Even so they have high quality, very pleasant private rooms for slightly more well-off guests. The staff are friendly, well trained, helpful and courteous. This is a do-not-miss lodging if you need to be close to the airport. After two visits to NZ from my US home, I will certainly stay again. I have no hesitation in giving a 100% recommendation to this great place!
