The only real problem is train noise I was lucky that my unit was at the end of hallway so relatively far from train noise but they moved us for one night to another unit because of plumbing issue and as extremely noisy

The property was nice when we finally got inside. Check in was difficult and confusing, I recommend sending an email with check in instructions since there is no in house staff.

Excellent building, ease of access, and the room was beautiful. Unfortunately the was right next to the train which seems to run every 5 minutes 24 hours a day. This made the room very noisy and difficult to sleep.

Expedia should clearly indicate on this listing that units at the front of the building on Wabash are within feet of the elevated train that runs all night, making it impossible to sleep. Sonder did provide us with a quieter unit when I complained.

Great stay and easy contactless check in
Modern clean space with easy walking access to sightseeing and cta for travel. We really appreciated the pack n play and high chair provided! Communication was also good 👍 Wifi was decent but you'll need to login and out of any streaming services you use on the TV. The provided starter/welcome pack was small but enough for our stay and Target grocery is around the corner. You would not know it in your room or floor (4/5) but there is a nice cigar shop on 1st level so expect a lingering tobacco smell (not smoke) in lobby and lift at times. We highly recommend going to The Game Room (basically behind Sonder) for a low key pub with pool tables, chess and other free games, also has a drawing room for a quiet place to do some work.

Visit Chicago a few times a year. I enjoy the being downtown amid all the hustle and bustle. This location was perfect! Walking distance to most things which is convenient. I like how the contact-less check-in made the entire process seamless. I highly recommend booking this location for any business or leisure accommodations! Two thumbs up

We loved it! The mixed reviews made me nervous but I chalked those up to chronic complainers and I’m glad I did because this place was awesome. It’s important to download the Sonder app to get all the necessary checkin information. Once you do that, Sonder will send you specific instructions to get into the building, elevator and the room. We actually had trouble with the code we were provided with to access our unit. We messaged Sonder and they replied within 2 minutes with a fresh code that allowed for immediate entry. Once inside our 2 bedroom unit we were pleasantly surprised by the spacious, clean surroundings including a kitchen. Everything except an oven. There was even a dishwasher. Sonder provided coffee, salt n pepper and olive oil for cooking. In regard to the reviews about cigar smoke…. Yes, there is a cigar/tobacco lounge on the 2nd floor as we saw a few well dressed, polite, professionals entering the main door to access the lounge throughout our 3 night stay. U can smell a faint smell of tobacco which actually left us feeling nostalgic rather than put off. It was fine. For whatever reason the light smell was more prominent in the small laundry area. I didn’t smell any lingering tobacco in the living room, bath or bedrooms. Didn’t smell anything like cigarettes. Beds were very comfortable and water pressure was amazing.

Smell is atrocious
I honestly would not recommend this property and would never stay again. The building and lobby reek of cigar smoke from the business on the 2nd floor. Due to this, people feel they can also smoke cigarettes in the building. There were people in the unit above and around us smoking cigarettes and it would fill our room up with the cigarettes smoke. We would wake in the middle of the night like we were in an old bar. It was absolutely disgusting. I will never again.

Proximity to transit was a plus and a minus - convenient for travel but the L was loud at night. Proximity to the Cigar shop made for unpleasant odors in the corridors, stairwells and elevator, but air in the apartment itself was fine.

The bed mattress and pillows were awful - they were so hard and flat. Also, the storage situation for luggage was terrible - none of the lockers were open and we had no where to put our luggage. We would not stay at a place like this again for these reasons.

Great but with snags
I would love to give this place 5 stars, but we had two issues. Firstly, the elevator was broken. This was inconvenient but workable. Then, we walked into our apartment to find that it hadn’t been cleaned at all. The bed was unmade, there were dirty dishes in the sink and even the toilet wasn’t flushed from the previous occupant. (Not that it was Sonder’s fault, but this must have been the most hirsute person on earth - there was hair everywhere!) With no staff on the premises, it took some time to figure out how to get in touch with someone. Then it took about an hour and a half to get moved to a different apartment. This apartment was nearly identical to the first one. It was incredibly nice. Outfitted with anything you’d need - pots, pans, plates, paper towels, dish soap, fridge, washer dryer. Extremely spacious. Even though the train runs right by the building, it was super quite. The location is unbeatable. You’re steps away from Millennium Park and the Art Institute. Tons of shops and restaurants. In short, it was wonderful. Despite the initial troubles, this was a great stay and I’ll probably give Sonder another chance in the future. Unfortunately, because of the elevator, cleaning problem and difficulty communicating, I’ll have to give it 4 stars.

Positives. Love the location. Clean. Space used well. Nice bright light. Great decor. Issues include fan in bedroom not working, air condition went out last 24 hours. Parking - you are on your own but did not find out until after I booked. If the fan and air had not been an issue would give 4.5 stars.

This was a perfect stay for our Chicago visit. Despite no traditional front desk staff, we found entry into the property easy and yet secure. Luggage storage lockers were especially appreciated. The room was very clean and comfortable. Excellent downtown location at reasonable cost; exceeded our expectations! Would definitely recommend.

The location of the property was excellent with lots of shopping and dining locations nearby, as well as a metro stop very close by to help get you to other parts of the city. The unit itself was well maintained and clean. It was small, so a long stay or having multiple people would have been difficult, but it worked for just me and a one night stay. I would definitely return.

I liked the location of the Apartment, as well the kitchen and how easy the access was to get into the building, but not allow anyone in the apartment. I did not like how it smelled like smoke/cig, when you walked into the apartment building and in the elevator. The shower head was to much pressure for the size of the shower. And the Heater and Air was a little difficult to use
