5 stars for Avatara

My family of three had a great stay at Avatara. Our bed was large and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and filling, and all staff were kind and great with our toddler. The airport transfer Avatara arranged for us was easy and the driver was so wonderful. Additionally, communication with the owner before our stay was prompt, kind, and clear. This was our first trip to Cape Town and the Green Point neighborhood is safe with plenty to do and great places to eat. We recommend Avatara 100%!

Wonderful place to stay

I stayed at Avatara my last night in Africa. I felt lucky to find Avatara. Cher, the hostess, is delightful. After I booked, she sent an introductory email with information about the place and to make sure I had everything I needed. She followed up closer to the stay. When I arrived we had a great conversation over tea. The place is beautifully decorated. Just down the street are several restaurants and a grocery store. You can walk to the waterfront if you want more action and choices. There's a big park nearby, where you can go for a run or walk to the coast. The stadium built for the world cup is in the park. The breakfast was quite good.

Recomendo

O hotel tem ares de pousada, mas extremamente confortável. A proprietária é atenciosa, prestativa e ajuda os hóspedes com todas as informações. O café da manhã é bom e a localização excelente. 10 minutos de caminhada e chega-se ao Waterfront.

Guest house full of warmth

Very charming guest house with incredible people running it. Great location for anything you want to do in central Cape Town.

Lovely B&B

The boss and her helpers are very polite and welcoming. They would ask how we are and provide a nice range of breakfast staples every day: bread, cereal, a range of cheese and brie, milk and orange juice, butter & jams. Omelettes, Tea/Coffee are made fresh upon request. I love the interior, although it was an old place, they have refurbished & repainted it to be very well-kept, neat and decorated nicely. We'd work at our breakfast table because it's so bright and cheery in white & teal. They also recommended us to bring our kids and stay over at another room which can accommodate all of us. Located near Main Road & Green Point, where F&Bs, pharmacy, laundry shops are and Woolsworth is a 10-min walk away. Easy to get around. An easy 20-min walk to the V & A Waterfront as well. There are also trips which you can arrange for via them, we booked a day's trip and the driver picked us up at the doorstep.

Avatara is amazing

After a beautiful room was presented to me there was a hiccup with the shower which was out with the owners control however by means of rectification I was offered more than ample compensation in the form of an extra night. Godwin arranged my laundry, taxi for early morning start and coffee to my to my room. I was just finishing 3 weeks of bush camping and about to start another so luxury was the key for me and I got that and some. I cannot recommend this place enough. Local to the waterfront and grand Africa beach cafe was recommended to me and what a beautiful place it was. I will definitely be returning.

Sehr kleines Hotel, mit freundlichen Personal, aber das mir zugewiesene Apartment (Nr. 3) war für 2 Personen viel zu klein, sehr warm (keine Klimaanlage), keine Aussenenster, also ingesamt eher 2 Sterne als die ausgewiesenen 4!!

Great Location and Wonderful Owner

This is my second stay at the Avatara, and I came back because the owner, Cher, is so great and the location in Green Point is perfect for access to restaurants, runs on the Sea Point Promenade, and proximity to the Waterfront. Cher gives great recommendations about the area (everything from transportation to masseuses), and is flexible and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable - the only downside is that you can hear everything going on in the small, non-sound-proofed guest house. It's kind of a crapshoot in that way - my first several nights were quiet and I slept great, then my last night a family with a baby checked in and I could hear every squeal and cry from upstairs.

Conveniently situated Guest House run by friendly, informative and helpfull owner - Cher. Was made to feel very welcome and a relaxed environment. Good breakfast each morning. Ground floor room was ok, but a little dark but with a very comfortable bed - an upgrade might be worthwhile.

Cosy hotel

We were met with incredibly friendly staff ,even though we arrived very early we were offered tea and breakfast while waitng for our room The only thing I can complain about is the spare bed they put into our room, my daughter coudnt sleep as it was extremlely uncomfortable. Breakfast was great. Room was very clean and tastfully decorated.

Pas de chauffage, conditions de logement inadaptée

Chambre en rez-de-chaussée de chaussée pas de climatisation, télévision de très petite dimension, pas de chauffage un soufflant d'appoint mais avec prise électrique inadapté à celles de la chambre, la salle d'eau avec WC mesure 2m2 et le lavabo n'est autre qu'un lave main la porte de la salle d'eau WC ne permet aucune intimité lorsqu'on est dans celle ci.

I paid but didnot stay in Avatara Guest House

Unfortunately i left Avatara Guest House without staying a single night - after paying for 7 nights full accommodation cost. I have never stayed in Guest houses, and felt very uncomfortable. In spite of my repeated request, the owner refused to refund me, at least half of the payment, as per the condition i agreed with Hotels.com. Though i missed my money, i satisfied my feelings by not staying as guest to someone whom i never knew at all.

Ich besuchte meine große Liebe in Kapstadt.Wir trafen uns mehrmals im Hotel.Cheer und das Personal waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ich würde mich freuen wieder dort zu wohnen. Leider ist meine Beziehung zu meiner Freundin aus.

Ripped off

First of all this was not a hotel but a guest house and the picture of the marina is taken from The Marina, it's a 15 min walk to actually get there plus they don't have a pool .. So to pay that much was not worth it at all! And the walls were paper thin so u cud hear everyone in the house! The room was clean and their made was really nice however the owner pretty rude and only out to get her money and nothing else! Never staying here again !' Unfortunately the hotel we were at didn't have a room for us the last night that's y we ended up here n thank good it was only for one night. Nightmare

Sentralt beliggende i stille bakgate rett ved football stadion, 10-15 minutter gangavstand til Waterfront og 10 minutter med taxi inn til sentrum. Butikker og restauranter I gaten nedenfor. Enkelt, lite men veldig koselig hotel som gir en hjemme-hos følelse. Jeg fikk et stort og lyst rom med fint bad. WiFi og grei frokost er inkludert, men ellers ikke de servicetilbud man finner på et større hotel. Ingen resepsjon så man låser seg ut og inn selv.

Worked for me

Certainly pleasant and adequate and very spacious deck. But no view and a bit off beaten track. Also breakfast was not great.
