Bushy Park

For a breath of fresh air amid the hustle and bustle of Dublin, a trip to the beautiful Bushy Park is most definitely in order. Nestled on the trickling banks of the River Dodder, Bushy Park hints at what must have once been the area’s wild splendour. Offering a taste of the nearby County Dublin countryside, Bushy Park is all the more special for being situated so centrally.

Situated in the Terenure suburb of Dublin, Bushy Park boasts more than 50 acres of land. It blends wild and wonderful woodland, an extensive play area as well as two large duck ponds, which attract a range of wildlife from Kingfishers to Sparrow Hawks. If you’re visiting Dublin and want a retreat from the big city without having to head all the way into the countryside, Bushy Park is the ideal urban haven.

Close to Terenure College and Rathfarnham Castle and Golf Club, Bushy Park is easily accessible via the bisecting Templeogue Road. Its widespread woodland makes for tranquil walking, while the children can play on the nearby swings or feed the birds – so don’t forget the breadcrumbs! Bushy Park also has a number of sporting facilities available, including a skate park, playing fields and tennis courts – why not bring your tennis racket too?

To top it all off, the marvellous 18th century Bushy House on the outskirts of the park adds a touch of historic luxuriance to this lush green lung in central Dublin.
