This was our first trip to Burundi and Kiriri Garden hotel was an excellent location overlooking Bujumbura and Lake Tanganyika. The hotel was beautifully decorated. The staff were friendly. Rooms were excellent.

There aren’t many upscale choices here. and this is clearly one of the better properties. That said, it was comfortable, safe, fine. Can’t “rave” about it but glad I chose it. It was entertaining observing the local movers and shakers who use the rooftop bar and host big celebrations. Amenities were basic but adequate. Guess they expect you to use toilet paper for nose blowing since there was no tissue. Towels were not plentiful, just one bath towel and one hand towel, and one floor towel for the shower. Agree with someone else who felt there should be a non slip mat in the shower. Very slippery! Best was the lovely view of the lake, which I was glad to get, after first being given a room facing the noisy entrance and street. Front desk was accommodating.

Disappointing Experience at Kiriri Garden Hotel

My stay at Kiriri Garden Hotel started well, with a nice gesture of being offered three complimentary bottles of water. However, the end of my stay was deeply disappointing and unprofessional. When I was checking out, the receptionist suddenly claimed I hadn’t paid for the water, despite it being presented as complimentary. To make matters worse, she called security to prevent me from leaving the property, even though she couldn’t provide a bill or any proof of this charge. She insisted I pay but wouldn’t issue a receipt for the payment. This incident left me feeling harassed and frustrated. It’s unacceptable for a hotel to handle misunderstandings this way, especially without providing proper documentation. I expected better professionalism and courtesy. I cannot recommend this hotel based on this experience. Guests should not have to deal with such unprofessional practices. Secondly, . The faucet was faulty, causing water to spray uncontrollably all over the bathroom, including the toilet area. This made showering an uncomfortable and frustrating experience, as the entire bathroom would get soaked, and it was nearly impossible to keep anything dry. For a hotel that markets itself as high quality, basic functionality like a working shower should not be an issue. While other aspects of the stay may have been decent, the inconvenience caused by the shower overshadowed them. I hope the management addresses these maintenance issues to provide a better experience for futur

Clean and spacious

We had a wonderful time! Our room with spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the staff was warm and welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious and amazing!
