Authentic cabins. Walking distance to a restaurant. Cabins are quiet. Warm. Decent value for money. The handler gave us an option to chose a larger cabin when we arrived.

Upon arrival, there is a note to notify someone at a certain phone number for check in as NO ONE was on site or in the office. All fine in dandy for a local... But as I was a tourist from another country, WHY WOULD YOU EVEN THINK that could be done!!! Pretty bonehead note on door. So I waited at the the door for an hour. Luckily,,, someone else showed up. That person had a phone... What Einstein, would think someone from another country could get on email. If management wants a phone call,,, put a phone than either put a phone on outside door, how else can I call

This was the most spacious place we stayed out for our entire trip to Iceland, which was a welcome change of pace. The cottage itself was wonderful. We paid extra for a cottage with a hot tub, but the hot tub experience was not what we had expected. We had to fill it, which required an employee to do this for us as we could not figure out the written instructions (and that is on us and is not their fault) ... but when we went out to the hot tub after it was filling up, it had lots of hair, dirt, and dead bugs floating in the water. We felt like if we were paying extra for the hot tub, that is should be clean and ready for us to use. Otherwise, there were no complaints at all.

Separate cabins, needs updating in terms of shower doors off the rails and coming out of the frame, exposed heating pipes next to toilet, valve on sauna broken, cluttered with extra furniture, two fridges (one broken), broken blinds that aren’t wide enough to block the light, no sponge or brush to wash dishes, dusty - needed thorough cleaning. Worst things was no one at check in desk! Had a sign to call them - can’t do that from US phone! Had to find a nice stranger and borrow their phone. Couldn’t get extra towels or help with any broken items. Never saw management.

The cottage was large and could sleep a family of 5. However the cottage is old and is in dire need of renovation. The water smelled of sulfur more than usual in Iceland. The mattresses were old and paper thin and extremely uncomfortable. The sauna didn't work.

The bathroom reeked of sewer gas smell so strongly that we had to keep the door shut the whole time. There was no one in the office at 9 pm when two young men tried to check in even though check in was supposed to be available till 10.

Clean and spartan- beautiful river the place looks out to, and good little municipal pool/baths where you can shower in comfort (what is in the cabin is for emergency use only!). Hot tub was ancient and empty.

Fun location - easy to get to hikes and ocean and play area for the kids. The service was bad. Pillows were basically garbage, no information about the property, no WiFi, an extremely long-list of all the things guests were suppose to do at checkout (clean toilets, mop floors, etc.) plus NO cleaning products provided other than a vacuum. Last night, we had booked two smaller cottages b/c ours was not available for the third night - yet, when we got there we were told it was, but b/c we booked through Hotels.com they would / could not refund the difference (almost $100).

we stayed in Cottage number 4 which had a bedbug infestation. We have been bitten so badly that we have had to receive medication. I have written a report about this last week which you did not publish. The communication is terrible with the host, there was about a metre of snow against the front door. We had no option but to dig it away with our bare hands which took around 10 mins, not even a shovel was provided. I am asking Expedia to request a refund on my behalf or i will publish photos on every site that this disgusting property advertises on.

One Night Stop along the Ring Road
We made a stop in Blonduos on our return leg of the Ring Road. It was a bit hidden from the road but luckily we had just stopped at the gas station to fill up. The small cottage was nice for two people. There were a few things I knew beforehand from previous reviewers but for the price I think it was a nice accommodation for a single night. There is a smell of sulfur when you open the faucets or take a shower but it was no big deal. Neither the TV or the wifi were working but we each brought along a book to read before sleeping. Didn't get to use the small kitchen but it had a small range and fridge. The restroom was open at the top of the wall to the bedroom/living room which was odd but unless you're not comfortable with the people you stay here with, it shouldn't be a problem. The check in was very easy, as soon as you go down the road from Road 1 the first building to your left should be where the office is located. Overall it was a good choice for the single night instead of driving through a winter storm.

The walls were not insulated in hotel Hiking group very noisey has to ask them to be quieter Were right out side our room yelling to each other Had there clothing all over floor in entrance room and lounge drying There kitchen items were all over kitchen No front desk had to try to find individual to check us in No wiFi available We reserved a two bedroom cottage but they put us in this noisy hotel room

Deceiving for the price
We anticipated our stay with a hot tub, sauna, and cozy cabin. We checked it out when we got there, and the " hot tub" was basically a plastic barrel on the deck, held together by rope.. with no jets, or instructions for how to use it.. That is not a hot tub. Then, the sauna.. existed, right off the bathroom inside.. but did not work. The bathroom.. The shower doors were completely broken, not fully shutting, falling off the tracks, held together by tape.. and SO small. not ideal. Oh, and if you dream of being a plumber or working with pipes, nozzles and gauges, you would love the ambiance of the hot pipes right next to you as you use the toilet. This place was ok if you are expecting one step above camping.. we were expecting more. We found the campground nextdoor to have lovely showers and less scary bathrooms.

Bathroom in a bad shape. Shower door was broken. Strong sulphuric smell. Fridge did not work. There was a very strong sulphuric smell in the water .. not sure if that was the case with all properties. The check in process was very smooth. We stayed just for a night so we were able to manage somehow.

Ok, but potential to be really good
The cabin is a good size and has an area for bbq, hot tub and steam room. The sofa and beds were comfortable. The decor, kitchen and bathroom need some serious upgrading to bring up to more modern standards. Instructions on how to use the facilities listed above would also be very useful (not everyone has these at home and know how they should be used). The DVD player that is provided would also be useful if there were any cables to connect it to the TV. In short, it was ok for one night but could be so much better to make us want to stay there longer.

The cottage experience was great! It had snowed so very scenic,. It was not difficult to get to. It was very cold and cabin was warm with warm water. Kitchenette haf all the amenities and the owner/manager was very friendly and accommodating.

Spa was not that clean... Mattress have to be replace URGENTLY.. they might ahve 40 years... you can feel the spring... Also they where missing information... they should have some document to know how to operate everything. Location is so, so.... you feel in the middle of a kinder garden ground.

We reserved a two room cabin and when we arrived they did not have a two room available. We were disappointed but they gave us a two room apartment down the street was newly remodeled. We did not get the cabin experience that we wanted, but the apartment was really nice.

Very disappointing and overpriced. We paid approximately £150 for what is a caravan site. We were told that it was not possible to cancel our reservation when we arrived despite our apparent disappointment. When we forgot to go back to reception to settle the invoice in full on arrival the check-in person tracked us down (with his terminal) to the restaurant we said we were going to in order to collect payment.

The place was mediocre -- quite worn and outdated kitchen. Also, the immediate surroundings were mixed, with a nice river/creek nearby, but difficult access. On the plus side: it had a large sleeping capacity and offered a good value.

booked a 2 bedroom cabin with riverview, arrived at this campground with no sign of "Glaðheimar Cottages" or "reception", then was give a 1 bedroom 15-sq-meter room for 4 people because it was full that night, regardless of the guranteed booking. And the owner charged me $423 for that night!

We ordered 2 rooms. I made sure that there is a free WiFi before making the reservation. For our first cottege, we quickly learned that the WiFi was not free and it cost us $20 extra. The second cottage was a new unit that didn’t reflect the amenities on the reservation: no WiFi at all ( although the reception person brought us the tech for the WiFi) the unit did not have a hot tub and a TV as promised on the reservation! And the shower didn’t have soap at all!!! Bottom line- we paid too much for something we never signed up for. The receptionist was a high school student who was friendly and helpful but it is obvious that the place is not managed at all by professional staff. I would not recommend this place at all.

This experience was very disappointing. Despite written agreement to cancel 1 week prior to reservation, the hotel never responded to multiple calls and emails from Hotels.com requesting to confirm... so we had to keep the reservation, which was inconvenient due to schedule changes outside of our control. Upon arrival, we were told that payment had not been made. We were unable to confirm on the spot and so paid AGAIN. The accommodations were not as advertised... we requested 2 beds, and it was a double. Description stated mountain views, but our cottage did not have and was removed from the parking area as well. We stayed 1 of the 2 nights and did not return. Hotels.com has refunded the duplicate payment.

Staff were friendly but we were given one of the older cabins. We couldn’t park right in front of the cabin, the beds weren’t as comfortable as I hoped they would be, the toilet had little space for our legs when sitting, and the appliances in the kitchenette weren’t functioning well. The place was easy to find, the check in was easy, and the place served its purpose which was a rest stop for the night.

The location of the cottage was good. While some cottages had better shades we had tattered shades so it was hard to block out the lights. The porch door that was broken and could not be locked. Our resrvation said we have wi-if. But the people that managed the property did not think so. The cottage was in a run down condition.

Good location on the river. Cottages are totally self contained however there were no curtains on the windows and the shower is very small. If the weather had been better we might of enjoyed the property more. I would recommend this place.
