Terrible place!

Terrible stay! Booked for 2 nights and stayed only one night because of bad smell in room, poor maintenance, bad service, bad toilet and nothing good to say about this.

The property looks old and dark inside. Room could do with an update. Old fashioned wooden carved headboards. Old dark wood wardrobe. But what was the style. It was clean. Comfortable clean bed and pillows.

We were in our room for two hours and the AC never cooled the room down. The drain to the AC is set into the bathroom which caused a trail of water across to the floor drain on the other side. Then the courtyard got really loud with heavy beat music. We did not even stay the night. Staff was very nice and was able to give me a partial refund on my booking. If it is not a super hot time of year or you do not mind the heat, this would be a nice hotel for a very reasonable price.

Decent stay

Good location and decent stay, but hotel could use an update. Price is super cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. Rooms need a serious dusting and holes in ceiling and elsewhere need to be fixed better than sticking tissue in them. Sink and shower water were clean and in general I slept well. Quiet area and I felt safe walking around at night as solo female traveler. Close to night market.

Everything closes early and the streets are dark. No recommendations for eating, or even telling you if there are any open restaurants nearby. If you stay here, eat it ally and download movies on your iPad or computer, or have a good book, The tuk tuk took me to a Lotus farm to photograph the blossoms, which was fantastic! Not much direction or help from hotel staff on things to do, although they were very nice and arranged tuk tuks. I had already seen the bats and the killing caves. Markets are interesting.

guesthouse acceptable

La guesthouse est une nouvelle construction donc les locaux sont bien (même si la déco laisse à désirer). Le personnel est sympathique, quoique les conducteurs de touk-touk sont assez insistant. La guesthouse propose des excursions et des billets de bus (assez cher compte-tenu d'une compagnie de bus de l'autre côté de la rue qui propose des billets à moitié prix). La guesthouse est située non loin du marché central, mais dans une rue qui n'est pas très bien éclairée la nuit (faire attention où vous marchez). Le petit-déjeuner n'était pas compris (malgré ce que proposait l'offre) car la guesthouse n'a pas de restaurant. Elle propose néanmoins un petit-déjeuner dans la guesthouse associée juste à côté. En revanche, il n'y a pas de piscine sur le toit contrairement à ce qui était indiqué dans l'annonce. La salle de bain est convenable, la chambre également ; il y a un frigo ; il y a l'air-conditionné (à condition que ça soit compris dans le prix). L'environnement n'est pas très bruyant (sauf quand les travaux juste à côté se mettront en route).

Nice hotel and good location

nice hotel, good location and very near to shops, restaurants and riverfront. For the price i can't complain at all. Staff were helpful and room was cleaned when required. Did get hot in there because of no A/C, only a fan...Which was quite loud. But on the whole very happy.

Loved Battambang and the location of the hotel was good with friendly helpful staff but the room lacked a window and that was a drawback , but overall good value for money

Hôtel très bruyant ,

Je déconseille cet hôtel , très bruyant travaux tard le soir et tôt le matin , personnel ne comprenant pas un mot de Français et comme nous n'avions pas voulue la clim nous n'avions pas droit à l'eau chaude c est incompréhensible à déconseiller dommage parce que l'emplacement en ville est appréciable

Hotel is in a good location for the various bus stations and just a short walk to the town centre and markets. The 'down side' to the hotel is the lack of restaurant facilities but there is a good coffee shop opposite the hotel.

Nice place, good for the price

Star Hotel offers good, clean rooms for a really good price. Their website is a little misleading in that there's no restaurant (the restaurant is at the sister Royal Hotel, a few blocks away). And the water in the shower wasn't hot....the only reason that was OK is because it was sweltering hot outside. But other than those things -- nice staff, good value, close to the dock where boats arrive/depart from Siem Reap and just across the street from the Capitol Tours bus stop/station.

Okay but not as advertised

The rooms are decent for the price and the staff is very nice. They advertised a pool and safes in the room with a flat screen - none of which exist. It's nice and quiet for the most part. They are a ten minute walk or $2 tuk tuk ride to the market, pub street and restaurants.

Very clean and spacious rooms

We stayed a couple of days in Star hotel. On line we could only book a big bed for three persons, but on arrival they suggested we could also have a room with two beds, no extra cost. The room was spacious and very clean, nice wooden furniture. The rooms get cleaned every day. It was off season so we had to take breakfast in the hotel across the street but that was fine too. Very friendly and helpfull staff, both in the hotel as at breakfast. The location is great too, walking distantce to the market. We hired a tuktuk driver suggested by the hotel and although the chain kept falling off he kent on smiling.
