First of all, this is NOT a hotel. There is no reception desk or office. There is no lobby or common area. It is an apartment building in marginal repair. We had to wait 20 minutes for the handyman to arrive with the key to let us in to the unit. He then had to turn on the hot water, plug in the mini-fridge, find some towels & TP. There was no drinking water provided, no maps of the area, no phone in the room, none of the usual hotel-type amenities. The bathroom was grubby with a long-dead roach falling to pieces on the floor. There were 4 random cups and 2 plates and 3 spoons and no forks in the mini-kitchen, no dishsoap or sponge. There was no heat in the unit and the weather was very cold & windy; we were given a few blankets that did not smell clean. Because it was so cold, we stripped the sheet off the bed to stuff it into the cracks in the door to keep the wind from blowing in. On the plus side, the handyman & the owner (whom I only spoke to on the phone, never met) were friendly. The hot water worked, though I had to unscrew the showerhead to get a decent flow of water. Because the town is so quiet we never felt unsafe even though the apartment's locks were flimsy.
