"We stayed in one of the standalone “cottages” at the end of May 2026. The place reeked of dilapidation. It appeared as if there were no updates since the 1970’s—except for the inexpert caulk job in the bathroom and a flat screen TV. In the bathroom, there were stains on the ceiling tiles, stained grout on the shower walls, and the linoleum was cracked and discolored. The view of the lakes was hindered by strips of plastic flapping in the wind and the residue that those strips left behind. It gave everything kind of a dirty feel. The amenities weren’t the best: the weight room is outdated. And I would have loved to use the dry sauna, but it wasn’t working and had an icky odor. The continental breakfast was that in name only. To me, the online photos are misleading. They give the impression of up-to-date and well maintained facilities. Staff at the front desk, while friendly, euphemistically called our cottage “rustic.” The owner (also friendly) did her one better by calling it “charming.” More accurate descriptors, according to my eyes, are “dingy” and “neglected.” A lot of work needs to be done to restore the place, but it appears as if guests are willing to pay upwards of $300 to stay in this cottage. Perhaps they can appreciate the value of the place in ways I cannot fathom. Perhaps they are so taken with the view that other concerns are minimized. So many possibilities! Choose wisely."

"Cute, trendy boutique hotel with touchpad entrance, no staff onsite. Cleaning could improve slightly as lower surfaces were a bit dusty and there were cracker remnants on the floor under the bed, two of the ceiling tiles appeared loose. No closet, but several wall hooks. Could use room darkening shades as there is a street light right outside the window so the room is never dark at night. Great instructions and good local information provided. Nicely decorated. Enjoyed our stay."
