The hotel is located on a very noisy street, obviously not advertised, and the walls are so paper thin you can hear people banging in and out of the building at all hours. The manager who showed us the room made sure we understood that we needed to clean; meanwhile, I'm looking at the kitchen counter behind him and it looked to be covered in crumbs (turned out to be pollen from the open window). The shower was gross; I could feel it hadn't been cleaned and still had an empty container from the previous guests. We were sent an email three days before our arrival that sheets and towels are an additional fee; we chose to bring our own. Oh, but we still got bedbug bites.
I could probably stop at bedbug bites, but on top of everything, the man who I assume to be the owner/manager was really rude. I had received an email from Hotels.com stating check-in at 2; we showed up at 3 on Sunday and he made sure we knew that 2 is weekday check-in (as if it's our fault that's not what the email states) and that he was put out.
He then made an off-handed remark like 'everybody uses those booking sites thinking they're cheaper when they're not.' I use this site to make a comparison of available hotels, look at locations, etc, not for better deals. Particularly, I look at it for the customer reviews... which clearly didn't help this time!
