Excellent location in the small, quiet and beautiful Gudvangen, away from the crowds in Flam. The hotel room comes with a patio where you can see many waterfalls on the mountain. The fjord cruise leaving from Gudvangen in the morning is peaceful. The restaurant and cafe at the hotel serve good food. There is a shuttle bus to/from Flam so traveling and doing various activities from Flam is not a problem. However it would be highly convenient and cost effective if you have a car.
This was a good place to stay. A bit old, but maintained okay. The area is so beautiful it is worth it. We were a bit unlucky staying in the classic rooms during a hot day; the room got really cold and we had to leave the window open, outside there were a lot of buses for the boat tours that depart from there. It cooled for the night.
The hotel is great. We tried to stay in Flåm but everything was booked, so a 20 min bus ride to the drop off for this hotel was easy enough. It’s in a different fjord but it gorgeous and we had a skylight in the room that had a view of one of the waterfalls. The room was very clean. Other then disliking the shower curtain and the breakfast, this place was lovely. The breakfast could use maybe more options, but staff was very friendly. The seafood restaurant was amazing. We stayed two nights and orders so much good food from there.
This hotel was in the best location to explore Flam and the Naeroyfjord. We also went to see the Hopperstad Stave Church. The breakfast was a bit disappointing and the restaurant for dinner was just okay. We only had one dinner there. The staff was incredible, however, and we enjoyed the bar and watching the World Cup soccer matches. I would definitely recommend.

Clean room. Did not like animal skin on bed. Weird smell
The property was in a beautiful location. We had great weather. The food from all of the places we tried was very good. The staff was helpful spoke great English and it was a wonderful day.
It was the most magical stay! Super kind staff, cafeteria was really useful, we even use the sauna! The only thing I would make sure everyone knows is that there are no blinds in the Viking themed rooms, so bring a sleep mask!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Breakfast is included and very good. Everything else will need to be an extra charge- sauna, activities, Viking town and all other food. The scenery is very beautiful.
This hotel was fantastic! Great location which was peaceful and relaxing. Both of the on-site restaurants offered delicious food, including the buffet breakfast.
Ceiling has a glass window of size around 25% of whole ceiling. This feature enable occupants to view the mountains from the bed. This maybe useful for viewing the aurora borealis during the winter season if it occurs but during spring where sunsets late and rises early, this causes sleep to be disturbed unless you are prepared with eye masks. Breakfast spread is basic. Rates are pricey for the fjordtell. Not every room is equal in terms of facing, some rooms face the carpark.
Gudvangen Fjordtell is a great choice in a lovely location by the fjord. A good base and easy drive to attractions.
Staff, food and facilities are excellent
Excepcional, la habitación amplia e impecable, el desayuno excelente, personal muy amable, justo detrás de la villa de vikingos, unas vistas espectaculares de los fiordos, excelente opción para tomar el crucero
100% the best option.
Choosing to spend a night in Flam (basically a cruise port) or Voss (new built town for sporty types) or Gudvangen, we chose the spectacular scenic tranquility of the Gudvangen Fjordtell and one of their Viking Room. Wow! This was so cool! Skylights let you gaze up at the mountain tops and stars at night. The bed very comfy, the decor made you feel you're in Norway, the shower excellent, cozy temps
We arrived from Flam via the Ferry at 16:45, walked 2 minutes to hotel, lovely reception, shop, bar, dining room.
Once we checked in, went to have a couple pints & a fish n chips dinner in their great dining room also with skylights everywhere.
In the morning the included buffet breakfast was excellent!
Had time to enjoy and evening stroll and a morning stroll.
11:40 am we caught the local bus right in front of the hotel for a 50 min ride to the Voss train station.
Staff were super friendly and super helpful with everything.
100% this is a great choice!
Beautiful location! Arrived on a boat from
Flam which was spectacular, next morning went to the Viking village which I would also strongly recommend. If we were to go again I probably wouldn’t get the breakfast at the hotel. The viking rooms are fun, glad I had a sleep mask
Very friendly and courteous staff! It was cold outside but the room was lovely and cozy warm. Nice dinner and my breakfast was included. It is right next to the ferry dock in Gudvangen. In the morning, after breakfast I walked over to the Viking Village and did a tour there… very interesting and worth doing. The bus stop was no more than a 10 minute walk from Fjordtel and I jumped on the bus to Bergen. Thank you for your hospitality Gudvangen Fjordtel!
The staff are friendly and accommodating. The self catering cabin was private, cosy and comfortable and a short walk for dinner and breakfast. The surrounding views are spectacular
