Everything is amazing!
We had just flown in to Auckland from London UK and it was an easy drive up there and absolutely worth the effort. Stunning spot, wonderful accommodation, terrific food and lovely staff. The best possible start to our holiday.
Absolutely loved this beautiful Lodge!
The Breakfast & Dinner was excellent!
My only advice is to make sure the shower control pads are cleaned properly & onetap in my bathroom was broken.
Will still highly recommend Woodhouse Lodge.

(Your chef made amazing food & the menus were 10/10
We had a wonderful stay for our 25th wedding anniversary. The highlight for us was a swim in the beautiful pool and the spa and sauna as the sun was setting. The breakfast was superb. A very special experience and highly recommended.
I loved my time at Woodhouse! The property was so beautiful. I loved the long, private drive up to the lodge with all the birds and animals. The food at the lodge was delectible, and they had a great wine and cocktail selection. Customer service was incredible - special mention to Ms. Sharleen who gave us great recommendations and was just so kind and welcoming. I would definitely recommend staying here!
For those who prioritize their vehicle's performance on unpaved roads and rough surfaces, it's worth noting that the access road may not meet your expectations. While the staff provided good service, there were areas for improvement regarding the food and accommodations. The dinner offered was a set menu consisting of an entrée, main course, and dessert. However, at a price of $110 per person, many may find the portion sizes to be inadequate and the overall value lacking compared to dining at a traditional restaurant.
Although the presentation of the dishes was appealing, the flavors were somewhat disappointing, and the meat was dry. Additionally, potential guests should be aware that the advertised bathtub in the room may not be functional. This issue is noted in the information booklet provided, yet it is not mentioned on the website, which could lead to confusion. While there are amenities like a sauna and spa, they may not provide the intimate experience couples are seeking.
Beautiful location and stunning views. Perfect for a relaxing break with no children!
Dining was amazing, staff attentive and friendly.
Would definitely come again.
A little remote down an unpaved road, but certainly well worth it once you arrive. Very peaceful and beautiful place. Great restaurant.
Only small suggestion is to add USB charging for foreigner traveler’s convenience.

It exceeded my expectations in every way – from the amenities to the service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fantastic property experience!"
It’s stunning! Modern and luxurious. The drive in is a tad challenging but worth it. The accommodation is fabulous. Amazing views. Great food. A special place. We loved everything about it.
Panoramic Perfection. Intriguing Infrastructure. Helpful Hosts. Pleasant Peacocks and Pukekos. Rambling Rabbits. Great Gardens. Lovely Lodges. My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and all concerned for making our 38th wedding anniversary weekend a resounding success. PTL
Woodside Mountain Lodge is a nice hotel in a lovely location once you have driven the twists and turns of the five km of mostly gravel track to find it. Staff members were all very nice indeed. Breakfast and dinner were unremarkable; this is not haute cuisine. We think that they need to do more to merit the four stars.
My husband and I treated ourselves to a night at Woodhouse the night before departing New Zealand. It is only an hour and a half from Auckland airport despite being quite out of the way in amongst hilly sheep farms. Everything was wonderful...views, decor, food. The main lodge and the cabins have been beautifully decorated. Cabins are large with ample living area including a fireplace and a large bathroom with double shower and spa tub. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Customer service was excellent. My only complaint...our spa bath and gas fireplace did not work.
Shouted the hubby one night away without the kids. Only an hour away from where we live. Amazing view, so nice & peaceful. Only downfall was the driveway to the place was narrow & we could not see upcoming vehicles approaching around the windy roads. The meals were overpriced a three course dinner (small portions) was $118 & breakfast was a-lot more. Otherwise overall a nice short getaway.
We chose this to break the journey to Russell but, could not have been more pleased. 5km down a single track dirt road, slowly climbing up a dirt road. An amazing journey to get there and well worth it. DEFINITELY book dinner. Delicious food and a real destination hotel. We will definitely come back and would recommend.
Probably the nicest place for the money I’ve EVER stayed. Quiet, beautiful setting with spacious, luxurious accommodations. Lodge is situated on top of a hill with panoramic views. “Villas” are widely spaced with big windows and verandahs to take in scenery. Generous tiled en-suite with two-headed shower, spa bath. Luxury is the word that comes to mind.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Very luxurious and will book again.
My only comment would be the road to the property was quite scary and dangerous. We drive a 4WD Ute and I’m so glad we do because we arrived in the evening and it was raining quite heavily. The roads became muddy and slippery and there is no lighting on the road.
Other than that amazing stay!
Luxury!
My husband and I stayed for one night for our 5 year wedding anniversary. We were greeted by lovely staff for our checkin. Very warm and welcoming.
We stayed in Villa 10 which was a short walking distance to the pool and spa. We used both of these facilities. There is also a sauna that we didn’t get a chance to use.
The Villa was beautifully furnished. It had a modern rustic feel. The bathroom is huge with a shower for two, seperate basins and a bath.
The bed was my absolute favourite thing. It was so comfortable and the pillows, linen and duvet were just luxurious. They provided a beautiful sleep mist also. Such incredible small touches.
We loved the gas fireplace which we used to warm up after our spa / swim.
We had the 3 course meal and a cheeseboard. Every meal was so well thought through and absolutely delicious. The eye fillet is the best steak I’ve had, compliments to the chef. 5 star quality!
There was also delicious shortbread provided in the room with the tea and coffee options. A breakfast is also included in the price, good range of choices.
My husband and I wished we’d had two nights there. It was just so peaceful and relaxing. We definitely would stay here again and absolutely recommend it. You can feel how much love and effort is put into every detail.
Thank you for the amazing hospitality.
