Medresa Thaalibiya, Algiers

This fine medresa and mosque was built in 1904 by French architect Henry Petit in beautiful harmonic neo-moorish style. It is named after marabout (patron saint of the city) Sidi Abd-er- rahman-et-Thalbi (1387-1471), hence the Thaalibiya name. It has served as a school of islamic law, general islamic school for muslim children and as a mosque.
The view with the sea and white multistoreyed appartement houses with blue windows is the essence of Algiers to me.
