Took the night bus from Ngapali Beach and was glad the gate was open and there was someone to check me in at 4:30am. Luckily my room was ready and since it was open they allowed me to check in right then and not wait until the afternoon check in time. Room was clean and bunks were private with curtains and I liked the stairs to the top bunks. Floor space was extremely limited though with not much room for back packs and suitcases. Breakfast every morning was nice and always coffee water and tea. Loved the rooftop deck, looks over the river. Easy walk to the market, sule pagoda, and about 40 minute walk to shwedagon pagoda or they provide a $1 shuttle there at sunset 3x a week. Unfortunately this was already booked up when I was there so I just walked instead. Nice place and good for the price. Staff was all very nice.
This hostel was great and I’ll definitely stay there again, the only problem was that the elevator was broken and it’s on the 9th (but they call it the 8th) floor....... originally they said it would be fixed by Tuesday, and then Thursday... but I checked in on Sunday and checked out the next Saturday and it was broken the entire time. The good thing is that their restaurant food is pretty good, so if you don’t want to walk down and up 9 flights of stairs to get dinner you can eat there and know you’ll be eating great food. They also made my bed and gave me a brand new towel every day, which is uncommon in dorms and unnecessary but appreciated.
Overall condition of the place was acceptable, our room had water seeping in from the rain through the window, but since we only stayed for 1 night, we didn't ask for any change of room. We saw that there were towels placed around it so it is probably a known issue. Nevertheless, the room was clean and comfortable enough for 1 night stay.
