The staff were very friendly and helpful in my limited interactions with them.
That said, for $400 a night, the "penthouse" (a 3rd floor addition to a very old building) and the overall facilities leave a lot to be desired. A few things that stood out:
the window next to the master bed does not shut properly (there is a huge gap) and you hear/feel wind and hear cars all night right in your ear; the pillows on the master bed are quite large and rock hard (not comfortable); the televisions/cable were difficult to figure out; there is sketchy 2nd door that connects to the 2nd floor that felt unsafe to me; and there are no blinds or curtains on any of the windows.
In short, nothing was really *bad*, but for that kind of money nothing was all that great either.
If you want a quaint, MV type motel, this is the place! It is adorable. We had a great view of the harbor and all the activities! The room was small but super clean and comfortable. Everything was pristine.
There are great food options nearby. We ate at the Black Dog Bakery, ArtCliff Diner (great breakfast) and the Net Result. All served great food. The bus terminal is really close by for any transportation needs. Would definitely stay again!
Great location on water by ferry and bus. Useful small kitchens. Shared deck. Walls thin. Could use blackout curtains. Helpful staff. Rocco’s pizza and Black Dog Tavern close and good! Be aware VH does not sell booze in town except in bars and restaurant. Must go to other towns to purchase. Great trip!
Everything was good. Good selection for K-coffee and thoughtful to provide drinking water that’s not in a bottle! Microwave in the room was helpful but needed a ceramic bowl for reheating. The only thing off was that the cable TV wasn’t working… they couldn’t fix it but we didn’t plan on using it anyway.
