"I stayed in room 33. Upon entering it reeked of cleaning products, but at least I knew the room had been cleaned recently. I had to open up all the windows and turn on the fan to get fresh air inside. There is no AC unit, only a floor fan that they provide. Fortunately it wasn’t too hot when I stayed here at the beginning of February. There was no working ventilation fan in the bathroom so I also had to use the floor fan to air out the bathroom after my showers. The ocean view from my room was great. On the weekends and some nights it gets SUPER loud and doesn’t quiet down till around 12. It’s also pretty loud during the day so taking a nap was difficult. Staff was super friendly and helpful but I did end up waiting probably 20 minutes to get checked in because the elevator was broken & the front desk person was helping another couple carry their luggage upstairs. He also helped me with my bag since I had to go up 3 flights of stairs which I very much appreciated! I would highly recommend not eating at any of the restaurants close to the hotel. A lot of of them add on a 20% gratuity onto the bill automatically and in my experience the food was not worth the extra cost. (VBC) In my room was a pretty large refrigerator and a microwave, as well as a side table and chairs. The television didn’t work but I wasn’t in my room enough to care. Overall for the price and location I do recommend staying here during the cooler months"

"Perfect hotel if you are there just to sleep. The staff was super nice and accommodating. My only issue was an odd smell that fortunately went away after opening the window. Other than that, affordable and only a 30 minute walk to Venice beach. "

"We recently stayed at the Kinney and it was the worst stay I’ve ever had in a hotel. The quality of the room was quite bad, primarily in that ALL noise from the occupants above, the hallways, and the courtyards was heard from inside the room. The noise kept us up at night and made for a loud and irritating environment in the room during the day. To add insult to injury, there was loud music played by the Kinney in the courtyard for the majority of the day, exacerbating the noise issue in a way the hotel could absolutely control. When we arrived, we were told to text the front desk if anything about the room was not exceeding expectations. We had already texted the front desk with other hotel-related questions and received responses, but by the time we reached out to complain about the noise/music issue, nothing was done and no one responded to our complaint. There was also clear mildew in the bathroom on the grout and around bath fixtures. We also found a hair in one of the plastic “sealed” water cups. It was blond and neither of us are blond, so we were quite grossed out. We were not pleased to be charged an additional $11/night as an ordinance fee as our stay (including fees) was already paid for and the rate should have been honored, with the Kinney absorbing the cost of the new ordinance if needed. We have again reached out to the Kinney and they have said that they have documented the feedback, but offered nothing useful, so don't trust any replies they leave."

"I love this hotel. Probably the only shortfall is the breakfast offered is limited but the area has a lot to offer so it’s not a big deal. Also, try to find parking besides the valet as that is very expensive. "

"Room was as described. Walls need some touch up on some spots. Space was beautiful and clean. Free parking was amazing. Location spot on, with coffee, Whole Foods, and restaurants within walking distance. Very quiet at night. "
