Fantastic resort with impressive staff
I had an amazing stay at this resort! It is located a bit away from Munnar town, but do not let that worry you as this is beautiful part of Munnar. There are plenty of things to see and do in the area, and the resort itself has many options to pass the time. But the best part was the team here. Very professional and helpful! This was by far the best hotel I stayed at while in India as they made every detail count. For a really special stay, I highly recommend the pool villa! Fantastic restaurant, too!

EXCEPTIONAL IN EVERY WAY
Spice Tree was exceptional in every way. Beautifully situated in the mountain Munnar region but far enough away to be in pristine quiet and beauty. The staff was excellent with customer service, the food was gourmet, and the design of the rooms and hotel itself is very considered in the lush setting. Our treks through the tea plantations and the Lakshmi Hills, were arranged by the staff and were personal and beautiful. l This place is a GEM and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Munnar.

Spicetree is excited exceptional in every way
SpiceTree was glorious! Beautifull setting located in the tea plantations overlooking the mountains. Well designed and considered design of hotel for the location. Exceptional service and food. I highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing trip to Spice Tree!
This was probably the highlight hotel of our 2 week India tour - the road trip from Kochi was bumpy to say the least, but when we arrived it was SO worth it. The property clings to the side of the hills and has stunning views over the valley below, which is stunning in the rain and mist. All the staff were so friendly and made sure we had a great experience on our visit. Dinesh was excellent on front desk and made all the arrangements for our transport and day trip to the tea plantations (you must do this jeep safari day - it was excellent). Mathew and Sooraj in the restaurant were awesome and very friendly. Siju who guided our morning spice plantation and dolmens evening walk was so helpful and knowledgable - we had a great time. Food was great, facilities so clean and comfortable, spa massage was exceptional. Only regret was only staying three nights! A most relaxing and enjoyable stay - we would definitely stay again. Thank you!

The Spice Tree is in a fantastic location high above "Bison Valley", nestled in a teak forest and a short drive away from the tea plantations surrounding Munnar. The location is not the only great thing about the hotel -- the staff and service are superb, the restaurant is excellent and the facilities are great: from the coffee shop/bakery to the library and spa. The icing on the cake was the "wine and milk" bath, which was spectacular with the result being a petal-strewn bath with floating tealights.

Absolutely Pristine Location
We loved our stay at Spice Tree, Munnar. The rooms are luxurious and the food is delicious, but the best thing about the place is that the entire experience is built on being sustainable and kind to the environment. They don't use plastic anywhere (event the shampoo/conditioner containers are cute little clay pots), the food is locally sourced and organic, and the electricity is mainly from the solar panels on the property. The views are absolutely breathtaking that make the ride up entirely worth it. A special mention of the staff, they were always very kind and efficient. We absolutelty loved our long weekend there.

Wonderful place in the cool hills
First place in india where they don't expect tips for everything. Food brilliant. Staff really helpful and caring. Grounds beautiful. Views wonderfull. We could live there quite happily.

Highly recommend.
Terrific hotel. Service as good as it gets. Excellent food. The location is out of the way but the hotel provides activities to fill a good two days. There is a wonderful aesthetic to the entire place. And, of course, quiet. Note: there is no air conditioning anywhere at the hotel, but at the altitude in the mountains, AC not really needed. We highly recommend.

Disappointing - and not a good value
We were very disappointed in this visit, our second one. We were misled by management a few times, and were not advised by the hotel that the roads to the hotel were undergoing construction, and all of the decent roads were closed. Not knowing, we ended up on roads that were dangerous, took even longer, and were not suitable for our vehicle. The manager on duty said that the road closure had just started that day, which was not true - we learned it had been closed for weeks. If the hotel had been responsible and caring about their guests, they would have advised us - we very probably would have canceled our stay, as the road closure delays also forced us to cancel the excursions we planned to take. We felt that we were misled by the management on several occasions while we were there. We had also emailed in advance to request spa services for the evening we arrived, and were told that it was no problem, no need to book - we'd be able to book on the spot. When we arrived, there were no services available. The rates at the hotel are quite a bit higher, almost double, what they were previously, and although the facility and the location are beautiful, and the rooms very nice, it is not a good value at this price point. Also, we found that the food was really not very good at all compared to our previous stay. The spa services are mediocre These should be significantly better for the price they charge now. The staff are very nice, and the activities quite good.

Gem in Munnar
Hotel is located in the mountains of Munnar. Hotel is relatively new, in immaculate condition, VERY clean. Amazing restaurant,, delicious and very innovative dishes, had cooking class. Ayerveding massage was one of the best I had during my trip, clean and relaxing environment. Manager and staff were very friendly, helpful, from the first minutes we were surrounded by very pleasant and helpful staff. They gave alot of advice for the trip. I wish we had stayed longer, we ended up leaving later and spent relaxing extra afternoon. Would definitely recommend it, would go back again!

Cup of Heaven
I cannot express what a hidden gem I found in Spice Tree Munnar. the room- one of the most romantic. the grounds- lush, meandering paths, stunning vistas, quaint common areas. the service- impeccable and sincere. favourite: the hidden library/coffee shop at the base of the property. I sat and read, distracting myself with the valley views, watching a sunset and sunrise, with faint Hindi music echoing through the hills. This stay alone was MY India. my only regret was not spending a few more days. Probably one of the farthest spots away from Munnar central, which makes it perfect- quiet, natural and authentic India. only cons: bed was pretty lumpy and insects somehow managed to get in, but otherwise I would have given 5 stars all around. best stay of my trip.

Idylle in einer Kardamonplantage
Wir waren überrascht, dass die Anlage mehrere Kilometer weit vom Zentrum Munnars entfernt liegt, aber die Reise hat sich gelohnt. Das Team und der Service war toll. Besonders das Zimmer war ein toller Rückzugsort, der abendliche Spaziergang mit Guide war zauberhaft und die Ruhe erholsam.

Nice hotel with a fantastic view
The hotel was far from the centre of Munnar but the location was awesome as it was right in the middle of the mountains. The hotel had a great view, excellent service, good wifi and a Jacuzzi in the bathroom.

A postcard perfect place
In a hotel you look for 3 things that differentiate it from others. 1. The property - this one was postcard perfect 2. Service - it was immaculate 3. People/warmth - this probably is the most important since it can make or break the experience. We were fortunate to be with all the staff who took care of all our needs and for always being there with suggestions and executing on our choices. All the best to the team.

Fantastic getaway in Munnar
Fantastic getaway. The hotel is perched on a hillside with fabulous views from every room. Rooms themselves are modern with good amenities and the jetted tub is great. The pool and restaurant area setting is very nice as well. However this is not a 4-star facility as indicated but more at the 3-star level. Very friendly staff and service, especially the front desk staff as well as our trekking guide. One point to note is that the hotel is far away from everything. While the seclusion is great, it also means that you really cannot go anywhere without a car, and the approach roads are in pretty poor condition as well. They were able to arrange a car for us from Cochin airport so this is not a big deal. Overall, highly recommended.

Nice views and great comfort.
We found the staff quite courteous and supportive. They run little activities which are quite interesting and keep you engaged. The nature walk was really educative and interesting. The hotel bakery is a big plus. Hotel even takes care of your driver.

This is the Real Spice of all hotels in Munnar
This place is a "must do" for anyone who loves an eco friendly environment that soak away the "rat race" which we all have to endure daily. The sheer serenity of this place and the ever accommodating staff will simply make you ask for more.......but than there's no more left to ask because you have been given and taken all.Wow what a place.Only been opened for 2 years now but you better hurry because everyone will want a piece of this place when they get to hear about it. The jungle walks and the friendly locals in their houses all making your visit to this place simply even more humbling.You get to learn and value humility.However be prepared to endure a long mountainous drive with never ending twist and turns of the roads.Hire a driver and car package.Don't even think of driving here yourselves cos its not worth the risks

Great staff & facilities
1) Great staff - professional and courteous 2) Location and views were brilliant - we observed around 10 different bird species in the morning hours from our room balcony 3) Restaurant food was good - our son is allergic to tree nuts and they showed good awareness 4) They have a good swimming pool - but do note that it is outdoor and the weather was cool-pleasant - so for us the water was cold - we headed back to our room that had a good size Jacuzzi

Perfect little hotel.
Perfect hotel high up in a hill station. Only 16 rooms so you get very personal exclusive service. There is a wonderful free tea tasting with delicious home made cakes and the restaurant has an excellent very reasonable restaurant. The views from all the rooms are amazing. Highly recommended place to stay in munnar.

Que buena disposición de todo el personal.
Nos hicieron un upgrade sorpresa y fue muy agradable. Teníamos la Pool Villa con piscina propia. Muy cerca del coffee shop, muy tranquilo también. Quisimos quedarnos una noche mas y como no habían mas habitaciones, se las arreglaron para prepararnos una pieza improvisada y se mostraron preocupados de que no nos faltara nada. El wifi no funcionaba pero tb me facilitaron su computador. Un agrado realmente este hotel.

Nice hideaway tucked away on a rugged hillside
We had a fabulous time. The rooms are immaculate and well appointed. Staff is very courteous and they aim to please. The restaurant ambience, location and food were all excellent. Everything was freshly prepared and delicious. You can go for nature walks with the resident naturalist. There is a tea and coffee shop with an adjacent game room (ping pong, table football) tucked away, hugging the hillside with views that go on forever. We enjoyed the tea tasting and history lesson not to mention the freshly baked butter cookies and Brownies. Another game room/library adjacent to the check in area has pool table and again beautiful vistas. The Infinity pool directly below was always sparkling. Everything is low key yet with great attention to detail. This is a surprising value a little off the beaten path for the able bodied (because of multiple steps and elevation changes) and well worth the experience. We would recommend it highly and would love to go back and stay there whenever we visit Munnar next.

Lovely stay
was very comfortable...its a nice resort with great attention paid to finer details. 1. Very courteous and polite staff.... 2. Good menu variety at the resturant... 3. Free tea, coffee at coffee shop.. 4. Free stay and food for the driver.. But the road built to the resort is not the best...For elders climbing steep stairs inside resort could be a hassel..Lacks a health club...r a few downsides. But overall experience was great.

Am a travel professional , natraj travels in Chicago was traveling a small group , Very unique property , not for people with walking issues , all rooms on the hill , have to go to up and and down to go around . But quite an experience. You can see stars from from your room at night when u keep shades open .

Worth the drive to the mountains
Spicetree is a fantastic and relaxing place in the mountains near Munnar. We visited during our honeymoon trip to India & Maldives It takes about 4 hours to get there from cochin but is absolutely worth the time- the weather is so cool and the mountain views are stunning. We enjoyed the fabulous homemade Kerela cuisine each day and the spacious rooms with terrace and whirlpool. Will definitely return.
Hotel staff decorated our bed for our honeymoon.

BEAUTIFUL LOCATION - WONDERFUL VIEWS
This is a relatively new eco friendly hotel outside Munnar with a pool. Most rooms have terraces with spectacular views over a gorgeous valley and high hills on the opposite side facing west. The buffet dinner is quite delicious and there was even a magician for entertainment at your table. Breakfast is also good. A tea tasting was offered at 4 PM with special white tea among the types to try. Our room was very large with a giant jacuzzi bath tub and a great view. The hotel rates include many included services like guided walks and chidren's activites. There are also spa services. This would make a nice stop for 3 nights of cool relaxation and forest walks with tea planation exploration. However beware that you cannot take the National Highway from here into Tamil Nadu because it is not possible to get a permit on the National Highway on this route YOU MUST GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THEKKADY TO GET THE PERMIT which is a very long route south. So if you want to travel from the Cochin area to TAMIL NADU, DO NOT GO VIA MUNNAR, GO VIA THEKKADY-- Unless your car has a national permit!

Outstanding hotel/resort
The Spice Tree was just a wonderful experience. We hope to return to spend more days here. The hotel is top quality and very charming - everything is in excellent condition, and all the amenities and comforts are provided. There are a number of activities provided (mostly free), so you wouldn't even have to leave the hotel (for example, tea tastings and short to long hikes through the neighboring spice plantations). The staff is wonderful - everyone is very helpful and accommodating. We felt this was a wonderful way to experience Munnar and the tea and spice country. The food was also amazing - for a small hotel (14 rooms), the range of food offered on the menu was incredible - and then they even made dishes for us that were not on the menu - and it was all delicious! you can't beat this hotel - it's just fantastic!

Beautiful place with friendly staff
We went in December the peak season and was amazed to find the best food, very friendly staff, good rooms and the jacuzzi was awesome... Had lot of fun and their complimentary trek tours were good and the guide was also very good.. One of out best stays in Kerala and we stayed in zuri, kumarakom lake resort, travancore heritage in kovalam, etc so u know what the competition was and spice tree kept it's place strong.. Thanks got the memories !!!

A nice place to spend a weekend in Munar. Well worth the tricky road up to it. Close to but not overlooking the tee

Surely, the best in Munnar.
The hotel was in beautiful surroundings. A little out of the way, but totally worth the trouble. The rooms were very spacious, clean and very well maintained. The service and food was outstanding. This is definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed in (and I travel a lot).

Great location and amazing views!
Service was incredible. Views from the hotel balcony are majestic!
