Nature! Lovely. Star gazing, animals / birds/ insects discovery. Quiet, relax, simplicity. Very good nature environment for toodlers to explore Resort surroundings. Hardly wait for durian trees to fruit few months down the road, am wondering whether stay-in guests will have the chances to enjoy free durian fresh from the trees? Room service did a very good job to clean up the room daily. Come and relax!
Spacious and clean room, friendly staff,in house activties like night trekking, kayaking, private cruise, round island activities are available. You need a transport if you plan to travel around.Nearest town should be Gerik.
Utrolig smukke omgivelser, men meget hårde senge.
Clean, spacious rooms and courteous and friendly staff. My room had the garden view which was alright, although there are other rooms which face the lake, with excellent views.
Limited eating choices around, besides the hotel restaurant the nearest local eats are a 5-minute drive away at the public Jetty on the other side of Banding Island. And these little cafes are open for only breakfast and lunch, with only 1 or 2 for dinner. The nearest town is Gerik, a 20-minute drive away.
A really nice place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, super relaxing and quite. Nice landscape, although at some small part there is in need for a proper maintenance. The rainforest and the lake view are amazing, especially if you view it from their pool. Super friendly staff (all are local Malaysians). There are also a list of outdoor activity packages prepared by the hotel, recommended to try.
A peaceful staycation, extremely up close and personal with nature and the wilderness. The weekend we went was a long weekend (with Monday being a replacement National Day public holiday), so there were lots of families and small children at the resort.
We booked the Chengal for 3d2n, and it came with a beautiful view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The staff was mostly pleasant.
Food is available at only two restaurants on-ground. I'd recommend bringing drinks and snacks with you, as the nearest R&R is about 30 mins drive both ways.
The forest reserve is amazing, great place for a quiet retreat & to be immersed with nature.
The staff were very friendly & helpful & spoke good English.
The rooms were very comfortable & clean. However there was NO TV in our room & NO WIFI signal despite the fact they provided it.
We were disappointed with the food, both for the quality & the taste, it was too overpriced for what was offered.
The pool was great, overlooking the lake & mountains.
I can’t comment much on the activities as we only stayed for 2nights, some of the activities are dependent on whether there are enough people signing up like the house boat ride.
We went on the jungle trail & were advised to start with the lakeside trial & end with the main trail. However we didn’t finish the lakeside trail as it was more challenging than we thought, at one point the trail was rocky & steep & trees had fallen across the narrow path, not knowing what lies ahead we turned back, definitely not recommended for kids/elderly or 1st timers.
Overall, we had a relaxing trip.
Overall the hotel is nice .. Improvement could be to install umbrella/ shady plants at common top deck area as it was too hot to stay and view the lake.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Love the scenery, the place was quiet, food was good, a nice weekend getaway for couples or small families.
The Chengal rooms were close to durian trees. And it was fruit season when I was there.
Some of the facilities were unavailable, closed or spoiled.
Sole playground roundabout was stuck.
Reading area had limited books to read.
Bathtub in room lack bathbombs/bathballs.
Bar needs some cocktails to spice things up.
Garden ponds at the end of the property needs sprucing up.
Overall I still enjoyed the atmosphere, but if the amenities are fixed and maintained, I would definitely give it a better rating.
Its still a nice place for a getaway, recommended!
This resort focuses on the theme of eco friendly and saving the rainforest which surprises me. So please don't expect too much from them.:)

Mixed but honest review
We first given a room that once we got in, the toilet had some foul odor. Upon complaining this to the front desk, we were quickly given a different room. Loved the prompt response. However the room sizes were totally different. The replacement room was much bigger and had the lazy/evening bed that was promoted in the website, however when we arrived we didn't get a room with a lazy bed. NOT sure if this was something to do with booking via hotels.com or something else. Everything was good with the resort, however they had parking issues, and my car was damaged while parking by someone who was either backing in or out. What was disappointing though was that the staff choose not to inform me of the damages when they first knew about it. I really think they need to get more CCTV's to ensure safety of the patrons and their vehicles. The resort is known for its hospitality though, and the swiftness of their staff and employee's, they didn't fail me there. Just a little disappointed with my recent predicament
The hotel is ok not fantastic but the area is superb. The half day boat trip was well worth doing. Trekking through the rainforest listening to elephants trumpet then seeing one at the waters edge was very special.
The visit to the aboriginal village was not commercial at all. Definitely worth a visit.
It was nice & relaxing...very peaceful to be in the forest with good spacious & clean room...what we had come for...but the journey was a challenge for us...very far winding road...the road was not in good condition...but once we reached & stayed, we were satisfied. Hope they can maintain the place & the trees arnd it....
