The problem with my stay is I used hotels.com to book my room. Been driving for five days and desperately needed to pull over and find a room last night after driving through the mountains in the rain. I thought I might be able to find the best rate on Hotels.com so I pulled into the parking lot of a best Western plus in Redding California. Into the search function, I typed best western plus Redding ca. A room came up looked great I booked it. I walked into the hotel and was informed by the front desk clerk that the reservation I handed her was not for this location in California. It was actually for a location in Redding Pennsylvania! In my exhaustion, I must have missed that detail. No problem, I will just cancel my reservation. Not so fast! These reservations are non-refundable, and non-cancelable. Instead of relaxing and having dinner and a glass of wine and then spent the next 30 minutes trying to cancel my reservation, including calling the hotel directly. To which they informed me that they needed to hear it from Hotels.com/Expedia, and that they couldn’t just cancel it. Everyone gave me a hard time about canceling it that technically it was not cancelable. It was just an honest mistake? I don’t wanna pay for a hotel room and another state on the other side of the country. As of the writing of this review, I still have not received cancellation or a refund.
