We got off our flight Ubered to our hotel and was so disappointed when we got there . Omg no! Travel with partner . Not safe . Nasty. Dogs . People live there ! Run!we left and had to find another hotel on a holiday weekend . But we got a new clean hotel

The hotel staff was marvelous in it's professionalism, attention, and courtesy. The hotel was adequately clean although in need of paint. My room was very good, clean, and comfortable. The hotel is close to attractions and is easy to access by walking and public transportation.

It was a nice and pleasant stay overall for the 5 nights that I was there for SDCC. The location is convenient and close enough to food places and transportation. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay, especially when checking in, but there’s a strong exception for whoever was working at reception on Mon 27 July at 4:30pm. He was very rude, unhelpful and dismissive. I would have considered staying again but because of his behaviour, I’ll look elsewhere in the future

The hotel had a horrendous odor when first walking into the lobby. The carpets have not been cleaned in years, nor have the walls. Listing states housekeeping daily. When questioned (because the room hadn't been cleaned) we were advised they only clean on request. In the room, there were two small bars of soap, no soap dish and one bar was broken into several pieces. There was no shampoo or lotion in the room. Staff were very indifferent, they came across as they didn't want to be there and offered the bare minimum of assistance. Free coffee in the morning ran out, and was not refilled. The only positive about the hotel, is that it is a good location, walkable to Little Italy, if you don't wind walking over homeless people on all streets around the hotel. We did not feel safe, especially in the evening. We would NEVER stay at this hotel again.

This property is in a nice, centralized location with easy walking access to restaurants and the waterfront. The place is also cheap in comparison to most other options, which is a huge bonus. I was also checked in by the manager and he was really great and nice with helpful tips on places to eat. Now the not so great: 1) The room smelled like cigarette smoke and the smoke alarm had been ripped off the wall. 2) No A/C, so had to keep the window open, which made it really loud (and hot) trying to sleep. 3) The shower didn't drain and I was standing in a pool of clogged water with rust chunks floating around. 4) The surfaces in the room had crumbs and the whole room, itself, did not feel clean. 5) The sink didn't drain because there was chunks of tissue paper stuffed down it. The place, in general, felt pretty run-down. But what can you expect for $90/night, I guess? I will say, that the linens did feel clean. So even if the room didn't feel really clean, I felt confident that my sheets and towels were, which is the biggest deal to me.

David, Shena, Alex, and the rest of the staff are outstanding. Their professionalism, friendliness, and customer service made my stay a positive experience. My only concern is the condition of the property itself. Motel 6 corporate should invest in updating and maintaining the hotel, as the carpets and walls are noticeably worn. The staff works hard to provide a great guest experience, and the property’s condition does not reflect the quality of service they deliver. With some renovations and upkeep, this location could be exceptional.

While I have stayed at multiple Motel 6 properties, this one has been the worst. Parking had only 19 spots, the area was sketchy. I switched my room first cause the bathroom floor was flooded and the 2nd room, the air conditioner wasnt working. It wasnt worth it to me to stay so I left. The person at the front desk was very accommodating, so that's the only good thing to say about this property. While I get this may be a private owner, you have a reputation to uphold and this location wasnt it.

Good choice if saving money is your top priority. Cleanliness was ok, staff was very good. Decent location--I never felt unsafe, although some might. Amenities mostly non-existent, and the wi-fi was terrible, although they made it so hard to use I only tried it for a few minutes.

Motel 6 in San Diego was a really good value. It was less than half of the cost of the better hotels in the area. The room was acceptable and clean. But the common areas (hallways, trash cans, parking lot) are dirty. And the area attracts a lot of homeless people. It was good enough to stay in, but lacks a sense of comfort. I'm grateful for the low price.

Honestly for the price, it's what you expect. Homeless people around the building and parking lot. Smells like smoke, even in our non-smoking room. Staff was nice and friendly, made check-in and check-out easy..as it was in the same 10 minutes. Solid stay for the price if that's what you're looking for.

I needed a last minute room and this was an affordable location. You do get what you pay for. The AC was going out and back on through the 2 days I was there but it worked out for me bc I wasn’t constantly there just showering, sleeping, getting dressed and brought my owner cooler to keep my drinks and snacks cold. The ice machines were out, hallway carpets are stained & super dirty, elevator worked fine. Room doesn’t look like the photos at all but it was decently cleaned, stocked with towels, toilet paper, hand soap, & the tv had good stations. The shower works fine but the hot water made a ringing noise; I didn’t mind I just put music on. Parking costs $20 per night charged to the card but since the AC was out they gave free parking as a compensation but only had 19 spots to give bc half the lot belongs to a neighboring apartment building & it was mentioned you could get towed. When I got back there was no parking so I parked on the street which, you have to move your car or pay money by 8am if parking on the street. A bit of soliciting outside by homeless but everyone minded their business as well as inside the building no one really causing issues just everyone minding their business. Check out and check in was quick.

My experience at Motel 6 Downtown San Diego was the worst I’ve had in over 30 years of travel. It was the dirtiest and most unsanitary hotel I have ever stayed in. Three years ago, I stayed at this same hotel, and it was very clean. That’s why I booked it again and expected a decent place to stay. I knew I wasn’t checking into a five-star hotel. At around $150 a night, I simply expected a clean room. It didn’t need to be fancy or exceptional. I even knew they didn’t provide shampoo, which was perfectly fine with me. What I experienced this time was unacceptable. I honestly think the streets outside were cleaner than the hotel’s corridors. I do not recommend staying here at all. I do want to thank Expedia. They helped me cancel my reservation and processed my refund. Expedia’s customer service did an outstanding job.

Check in process was fast, the staff was friendly & helpful. The overall stay was horrible though! The hallway leading to the room smelt like urine & rotten garage. Once i entered the room it smelt worse than it did in the hallway just with reek of cigarette smoke, the sink was clogged, the shower didn’t have a cold setting, the window couldn’t open more than 3 inches, the AC was full of dust & barely worked . Parking was full & i needed to park in a separate lot which thank god nothing happened. I went to an event at waterfront park which was a 10-15 minute walk. The motel is conveniently close by & the walk there didn’t feel unsafe at all. When getting back to the room around 11:30pm, the room next door & floor above was so noisy. I fell asleep around 12:30am & around 1-2am woke up to alarms ringing . They stayed on for about 20 mins THEN around 7am woke up to nonstop barking. The entire stay was a horrible experience, all rooms were fully booked. I regret i booked a room at this location.
