A typical Ibis. Great Lake view room but only one chair is provided. How could a couple enjoy the view together?

The room was small but big enough for 2 people for a short stay. A cockroach did come out of the vent one night and the spoons for coffee weren’t overly clean. Otherwise not bad

Great location, quick walk to Eat Street with lots of restaurant choices. Clean, quiet and enough space. Plenty of free parking on street and lovely view.

Location fine,but the room given to friends was the worst in the hotel. Luckily no sulfur smell like next door

No fuss, friendly staff and comfortable bed! Walked a short distance to Eat Streat in the evening for dinner and back to hotel! Very enjoyable stay.

Ibis room is usually a tiny prison cell but not this one !! We were pleasantly shocked to see Quite a big room with 2 queen beds. Great value. Location is fantastic near Eat Street and other restaurants. Can also walk less than 3 min to the lakefront. We didn’t rent a car but were able to go on tour to Waimangu volcanic valley, booked from the tourist office which is also within walking distance. We love this hotel

Great location, walking distance to plenty of restaurants. Near the water and park. Disappointed that there was no Electric vehicle charging as we were lead to believe. There was a parking space in the garage that was marked for EV charging but the front desk said it will be painted over after construction. We had to charge the car somewhere in town which made it inconvenient. I hope they have more ev charging in the near future.

Very comfy bed but could do with more facilities like a proper bar, swimming pool or gym. Also not enough staff on reception on arrival.

Pleasant enough stay. Very convenient to a number of restaurants etc. Only negative was that cleaning staff walked into room two hours before we were due to checkout!!

Rooms are very small and crowded. Bathroom is in need of refurbishing. Shower was so tiny and counter so worn and tired. Nice bath towels though and beds were comfy. Great location, close to water and restaurants. Easy parking. Wifi good.

Excellent, cheap accommodation within walking distance of eat street. 24hr self serve laundry and access to the gym and pool in the hotel next door.

Stay away from this crap. Common areas are dirty, rooms are dirty, windows don't open and the AC is so bad it takes like an hour to cool the room, in the middle of the summer. Staff is completely useless. We waited half hour in line just to check in. When it was our turn they asked for the physical card I used to book through Expedia, except I had used a virtual card. But they insisted they needed a card on file. Offered to pay a large deposit instead but nope, "we need the card". Manager was called, I reluctantly gave them one of my other physical cards but the POS showed an error: "issuer unavailable". Keep in mind I've used these cards all around the world, including in multiple hotels in NZ in the last 2 weeks. Second card: "issuer unavailable", same for about 4 more cards, all from different countries and banks. The manager insisted the problem was on my account. "Maybe the balance is insufficient", "maybe the account is frozen", all in front of other guests waiting in line, it was HUMILIATING! In complete disbelief and frustration I was asked to rebook through Expedia and pay online, which I did, using the SAME card, right in front of the manager, AND IT WORKED! I asked if breakfast was included: "yes, 6 to 9 am". My dad went early the next day and guess what: "sorry, actually breakfast isn't included". Seriously?? The least you could do is include breakfast for wasting our time and humiliating us in front of other guests. Shame on you.

My standard of an Ibis hotel was set by a good experience wiith Ibis Belfast. This one offered the same Ibis feel. It was located so close to the lake and the park. I am glad I chose this hotel. As far as the front desk staff, I will have to get use to the more stand-offish culture which, fortunately, was not shared by the room attendants.

Not much to be liked, dirty dusty lifts, paint specs peeled off and lying on rugs, breakfast was ok but no labels on items as to what they were. Rooms were clean but not as one expects. Hand basin grimy. The hotel in general looks run down and in need of refurbishment. One could actually see months of grime on lift doors, dust on lift walls. Very bad.....

Our room was nice with a lake view. However the spare blanket was dirty with food relents stuck in it. We were only given one flannel for the two of us and there was no bath mat. The breakfast hot food was cold ie the bacon and the eggs. The orange juice tasted as if it had gone off. There was a used interdental brush on the lift floor when we arrived and it was still there the next day when we left. All in all we were very disappointed.

This is a budget end hotel and it felt like it. Facilities and provisions were at or below the bare minimum, e.g. we booked for 3 people but there were only 2 towels in the room. Cleaning staff at one point entered the room without knocking. It's the small things that matter. There was a potato chip in the stairwell the entire duration of our stay - 3 days. Hmmm. I would rather find other options for a similar price or go upmarket.
